Hey, I created the MA real world template after I got the idea from Wookieepedia's "era icons" like the ones in [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Anakin_Skywalker this article]. I once tried to make an icon system at MA where real, featured, shortcut, policy, and whatever else, would all be integrated in a system and then articles would have a template call like <nowiki>{{icons|featured|real}}</nowiki>. The idea was never accepted. The biggest problem was with long titles. | Hey, I created the MA real world template after I got the idea from Wookieepedia's "era icons" like the ones in [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Anakin_Skywalker this article]. :*{{comment}} The other vote is about the RPOV policy. The policy itself is sound. We still shouldn't freely mix in- and out-of-universe references with an article, but use separate sections and footnotes instead. It's just the template that is rather pointless. Hey, I created the MA real world template after I got the idea from Wookieepedia's "era icons" like the ones in this article. I once tried to make an icon system at MA where real, featured, shortcut, policy, and whatever else, would all be integrated in a system and then articles would have a template call like {{icons|featured|real}}. The idea was never accepted. The biggest problem was with long titles.
Anyway, maybe you could also add an RDM or TOS icon to it. The other thing is that it doesnt work in BsgMonoBook skin, but at least there is a toolbar now! Thanks to whoever got that working. --Bp 23:12, 15 January 2007 (CST)
- Toolbar was simple to fix. We document the difference between "Real Life" stuff between RDM and TOS that I don't think we are going to include the icons.... so far. Shane (T - C - E) 23:17, 15 January 2007 (CST)
- The entire idea is a bit "up in the air" right now. Me and Shane are trying lots of things out. there is no official policy on how it would be used just yet. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 03:22, 16 January 2007 (CST)
- Shane, this code looks really useful. See: Template:Eras. I think I like those icons better than the text box... --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 03:24, 16 January 2007 (CST)
- Not really a fan of the "icon" base. Gives no purpose. With the "text" it's easier to show. I am not saying that it's good, but those icons are to show the "universe" that the item belongs to, not real world which this template says "I am from the real world, not BSG". Shane (T - C - E) 03:41, 16 January 2007 (CST)
Broken?
I see that Shane made some changes to this template on September 24th, but is it supposed to look like this? It looks kinds of broken to me, and just not good on the pages where it's used. Or is the work just not done? --Serenity 10:40, 29 September 2007 (CDT)
- Not done. :) Shane (T - C - E) 11:41, 29 September 2007 (CDT)
- Still seems broke to me (Firefox, Monobook skin) OTW 18:19, 4 December 2007 (CST)
- Works now! OTW 19:18, 4 December 2007 (CST)
- Looks broken again now, bsgbook on Firefox 2.0.0.11. On Humanoid Cylon speculation, the template is displayed on the bottom of the page (probably not intended) and partly overlaps with the categories box. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 08:48, 7 January 2008 (CST)
Refresh your browsers
I've changed the CSS pertaining to this template yesterday. Some of you may still be having issues because your browser has cached the old CSS style sheet, so please do a hard refresh if you run into any problems.
