Mason is a prisoner aboard the Astral Queen and takes part in a prison revolt aboard that ship.

Nothing is known about Mason's pre-holocaust life except that he was a prisoner aboard the Caprica-bound Astral Queen, on his way to have his parole eligibility assessed. He is also friends with Tom Zarek and possesses an inferiority complex.

Mason attempts to socialize with Cally Henderson, but is offended by her lack of interest in having a conversation with him while she was being held as a hostage. He later removes her from her holding cell and attempts to rape her. Henderson resists by biting a part of his ear off, after which he retaliates and shoots her in the stomach.

Still enraged from being bitten, Mason tries to finish off Henderson, but is slain by Captain Lee Adama before he has a chance (TRS: "Bastille Day").

Colonel[1] Mason is the United States Air Force officer who oversees the removal of the three Galactican Vipers that landed in a meadow where Willie Griffin played.

He asks Griffin to keep the secret of the craft, but fails to do so as the boy ultimately tells Troy and Dillon that the crafts were brought to Van Nuys A.N.G. Base. While the Galacticans, including Xaviar, recover their craft, Mason brings Dr. Donald Mortinson to the base, arriving just after all the craft are gone (1980: "Galactica Discovers Earth, Part III").

Colonel Mason talks to Willie Griffin during the United States Air Force's recovery of the Vipers (1980: "Galactica Discovers Earth, Part III").

Notes[edit]

  • The name for this character comes from the name plate on the character's uniform, which can be seen briefly as Mason bends down to talk to Willie Griffin in the meadow.

Benedict Mason is a loyal supporter of Tom Zarek, working with him on the Citizens for Sagittaron Labor Reform.

Mason is present with Zarek when police forces storm the Labor Reform's headquarters and vandalize it; the act causes Zarek to disband the labor movement and form the Sagittaron Freedom Movement, which Mason becomes the second-in-command of. As part of his duties, Mason coordinates and plans attacks against government targets, in addition to organization's operations (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 2).

Mason is later imprisoned (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 3) after the destruction of the Labor Ministry Building in Sagittaron City (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 2).
