Vinson is a civilian member of the Fleet.
Vinson took part in Sesha Abinell's hostage taking folly on board the Cloud 9 lounge, hoping to get the pregnant copy of Sharon Valerii in exchange for hostages.
He has at least one sibling, Page, who is killed during a botched Marine assault led by Captain Starbuck.
Vinson himself is killed during a second rescue attempt, which resulted in the death of of the three remaining hostage-takers and at least one hostage.
