The laser pump is a vital component of a Viper's laser guns. During combat, it appears that the laser pump may be capable of jamming.
During a similated flight, Starbuck tells Athena that his laser pump is jammed and that she would have to dispatch the unnamed enemy craft, presumably a Cylon Raider. (Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I).
