Tom Lieber: Uh this is Tom Lieber, director of development and current series for Universal Cable Productions. I oversee Caprica for the studio. And I'm here with the Adama brothers, Sasha Roiz...

Sasha Roiz: Bonjour.

Tom Lieber: ...who plays Sam Adama and...

Esai Morales: Esai Morales.

Tom Lieber: Esai Morales who plays Joseph Adama. And Esai might lapse into Spanish halfway through this because...

Esai Morales: Sí. Porque, I mean...

Magda Apanowicz: And Magda's also joining you guys just so that she can get on every special feature on the DVD.

Tom Lieber: You realize there's no residuals for the podcast, right?

Magda Apanowicz: I know. And I'm not even in this episode.

Tom Lieber: Magda's not in this episode?

Magda Apanowicz: No.

Tom Lieber: Magda's not even in this episode and she came to watch because she just wanted to see the episode and support. So basically where we're where we're starting is um, what happened in the last episode is Lacy was on Gemenon and she became a superstar of the STO and Clarice Willow is really slipping into zealot-land and she was tricked into believing that Mar-Beth was the traitor in her house, uh, when actually we all know it was Amanda Graystone. And Clarice killed Mar-Beth.

Magda Apanowicz: Did you spoil this?

Tom Lieber: No, they already saw it.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh.

Tom Lieber: And then we had a brief scene with the Adama brothers last week when the um, Sam found out that Joseph knew that the Guatrau and Graystone Industries was uh slipping Cylons to Gemenon when Sam has been wanting to slip them to Tauron to help his people's revolution. So there's a bit of a rift between the Adama brothers right now as we as we go into this episode.

Sasha Roiz: But not in real life.

Tom Lieber: In real life they're sitting on each other's laps.

Sasha Roiz: Happy wherever we go. Mhm. Whatever we do. Oh, so here we go. We're starting—what's this? The title scene? No, not yet. We're getting right to it.

Tom Lieber: This is the teaser.

Sasha Roiz: Oh. The hood. So I remember this spot. I used to love hanging out at Goldie's. Our little uh neighborhood hangout.

Tom Lieber: So are we coming back to this?

Sasha Roiz: I still love going there. Yeah, I know. They did such a great job. We took over that whole corner and uh completely redid it. And so much so that I remember one time we had this homeless lady come in and try to place a bet.

Tom Lieber: Really?

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. She— it was so real.

Tom Lieber: Well, it's not in the nicest part of Vancouver.

Sasha Roiz: I think we all knew that. Yeah, it's basically in like LA's Skid Row is where that this Goldie's is in Vancouver.

Tom Lieber: You guys film on Hastings?

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, Hastings. Yeah, yeah. Sasha, what? You're on TV, watch this.

Magda Apanowicz: What?

Sasha Roiz: And um, and so, uh, yeah, so it was a really fun spot to to hang out at because it was so believable. They did a great job. Our art direction did a great job if I remember anybody's names, I would certainly plug them.

Tom Lieber: Doug McLean.

Sasha Roiz: Exactly. Doug.

Tom Lieber: Um, and then there's also Richard Hudolin and all the all those people.

Esai Morales: And Joao.

Sasha Roiz: Joao! Props! Props to props.

Tom Lieber: Look at those props. Oh, and don't forget Rebecca, who did all your tattoos.

Sasha Roiz: Absolutely. Two and a half hours of almost every other day. Um

Magda Apanowicz: She does your special time because she wanted to spend time with you.

Sasha Roiz: She does. Did Rebecca have a crush on Sasha?

Esai Morales: No, don't spread rumors.

Sasha Roiz: I was crushing all over her.

Esai Morales: She's crushing on everyone.

Tom Lieber: She's adorable.

Sasha Roiz: No, they're all lovely. Everybody was absolutely fantastic. Can I just say I love him.

Esai Morales: The best.

Sasha Roiz: Jorge Montesi, the Guatrau. He was loved working with him. He's such a talented, talented man. And such gravitas.

Esai Morales: Incredible. And the a rumbling voice.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. He basically was the Guatrau.

Esai Morales: He was That's not acting.

Sasha Roiz: I I feared him even as an actor. I was like, I hope this guy doesn't kill me. Um But he was um, he was an incredibly prolific director. He's got massive amount of experience as a director. He's been a director for many, many, many years, most of his life. And he retired as a director and he just um does the acting now. Yeah, yeah.

Tom Lieber: But I loved working with him. He was very, very good. And like you said, gravitas, like so heavy. Mhm.

Tom Lieber: And here we are back on Tauron, you know, 30 years ago. This is um Aleks Paunovic who plays um William Adama, the original, the first William Adama. So so Bill Adama from Battlestar is grandfather.

Sasha Roiz: And this is young Esai, young Joseph that he's speaking with.

Tom Lieber: Yes.

Esai Morales: Yeah. That's when I was taller than you, Sasha.

Tom Lieber: These kids. For a few minutes. Yeah. When, you know, Matt Roberts wrote this script. It's a great, great script. And when we saw, you know, it's always nerv- nerve-wracking when you give children big parts to play because you don't really know what you're getting with kid actors. We found these kids that so channeled both Sasha and Esai that this young Sam is so he's just he's so Sasha and that, you know, he's kind of brooding and he's very emotional and

Sasha Roiz: As a kid, I was.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, he, you can tell that he's he's wearing his heart on his sleeve in a big way. And then the young Joseph is so thoughtful and so quiet and so playing it close to the vest.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, but it's the politician. Oh, that's right.

Tom Lieber: They're both really, really beautiful kids. Great kids.

Sasha Roiz: Gorgeous kids. Great kids. And uh, funny enough, the the young Sam, his real name is Alex, if I'm not mistaken. And Aleks Paunovic plays the grandfather or the father in this case. My name is Alex too. A little nerd fact. All three Alexes playing uh, you know.

Tom Lieber: Is that your real name? Is Sasha?

Sasha Roiz: My my legal birth name is Alexander.

Tom Lieber: Is that right? I didn't know that.

Sasha Roiz: Is Sasha a diminutive for Alexander? Sasha is in Slavic languages is a diminutive for Alexander, kind of like Bill for William.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. Wow.

Sasha Roiz: But don't you dare call me Alex.

Esai Morales: What do they call you?

Sasha Roiz: Alexy-boy.

Esai Morales: I think I'll call you that.

Sasha Roiz: Alexy-boy. So, three Alexes right there. And uh, and it's also fun to have Alex Paunovic like uh, he's actually taller than I am. He's a big, he's a big lad.

Tom Lieber: Six foot one?

Sasha Roiz: Six foot five or six? Yeah. So, you know, for anyone who uh, yeah, this is believable as my dad.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. And you said, I think Esai you said in the pilot that there are no flowers on Tauron.

Esai Morales: Right. It's all just

Tom Lieber: It's all just grit. There's nothing, there's no room for beauty there.

Esai Morales: Right. Well, and they don't need beauty to replicate, I guess. The bees know what to do. So the bees know how to find the flowers. That's true. Well, they got to attract the bees somehow. See, flowers get their beauty to attract bees.

Tom Lieber: Yeah.

Esai Morales: So that the bees pollinate them, you know. Right. I read that in a book.

Tom Lieber: Did you really?

Esai Morales: Yeah. It's called The Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan. Free plug. Incredible book.

Tom Lieber: Here we go. We're back. This episode. Is this the same credits? Oh yes. All right, so here we go. Here comes Amanda. And

Tom Lieber: had a very big episode last week so she's not in in this one very much, but um, she's just continuing her espionage now that Agent Duram got her all the tech so that she can spy on everybody. She is uh, she's doing what she can to try to bring Clarice down.

Magda Apanowicz: Well, and isn't she still? She still has her limp?

Tom Lieber: She's still limping. Yeah, she's still limping from her from her jump off the bridge.

Magda Apanowicz: It's a massive bridge if anyone's been to Vancouver.

Tom Lieber: Did it ever show you how she jumped? No, it just showed her. No, did it ever show you how she landed and why she's limp? Oh, no. You just see her in the hospital.

Magda Apanowicz: I think that um, I think Sister Clarice helped fish her out and that's why they were so close.

Tom Lieber: Oh, yeah. That's why she ended up living with them.

Sasha Roiz: I love these two actors, by the way.

Tom Lieber: Brian Markinson is just amazing.

Sasha Roiz: Wonderful, wonderful actor. And he's cousins with my friend Brett Markinson. And he's just a a real down-to-earth and

Magda Apanowicz: Good guy.

Sasha Roiz: I called him Old Spice. He looks like Old Spice. Yeah.

Tom Lieber: Now what's happening here?

Sasha Roiz: So in the last episode, um, Agent Durham slipped saying false information.

Tom Lieber: Oh, yes, right.

Sasha Roiz: And so now Singh is trying to cover his ass knowing that Agent Durham has outed him as a traitor to the cause. Oh yeah. So this is, yeah, he's in trouble now. Got it, got it, got it. It's it's been so long. We wrapped in January.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, I mean it's It's been almost a year. It's hard to remember some stuff.

Sasha Roiz: It's hard. Yeah.

Tom Lieber: But um, so now Singh is uh, is covering his ass to protect himself. This guy's IA, Internal Affairs.

Sasha Roiz: Ooh.

Tom Lieber: And I love this, that his, you know, very upper class, you know, almost, you know, snooty, you know.

Sasha Roiz: This is where he starts planting things. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and he says he saw a book on the end of a, you know, on a table that was that's code for something else.

Tom Lieber: All right, so this is, I remember this scene. This is a very very dark, very Godfather scene.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. Oh my God, it's you. Oh, I love that. No, the G just fell. Oh my gosh, no.

Tom Lieber: Are they destroying it? Yes. Oh my God. Yes. They're turning New Cap City into their own private

Magda Apanowicz: What is today?

Tom Lieber: They're tearing it apart.

Sasha Roiz: That's amazing. They're using their powers to make New Cap City go away.

Tom Lieber: Oh, I love that.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh, no. Wait, so their game is over?

Tom Lieber: No, it's not over. They're creating it into their fantasy. Yeah. So that Daniel can't find them. That's the Wall of China. That's perfect. Pretty much. And that's the end of the act.

Sasha Roiz: So we came out ahead of all that stuff, huh?

Tom Lieber: We did.

Sasha Roiz: What the hell our episodes are back to you. Mhm.

Tom Lieber: Oh, I love Sasha, he's so cute there. Scott Porter.

Sasha Roiz: Do you like Scott? Oh, I think I have a little crush on him.

Magda Apanowicz: You think? He's adorable.

Sasha Roiz: I think you have a little crush on him. Yeah, but Scott looks adorable. I think I have a crush on him. I don't crush on boys very often.

Tom Lieber: It's okay. It's okay. He's a good kid. Scott Porter's very very good actor, nice person. Yeah, he's really good. He was on Friday Night Lights.

Magda Apanowicz: We were gabbing about him earlier on a different. Oh yeah.

Tom Lieber: And then he was on this and now he's on The Good Wife. Mhm. He's working. Good for him.

Sasha Roiz: I remember during that dinner he he kept telling us about his beatbox. Yeah, he's really good. Past. Remember he was doing the mouth beatbox thing.

Tom Lieber: What dinner was this and why was I not invited? You were You weren't in town. No, you probably weren't here. I don't know why. I think this was the one. Michael Taylor was there. Yeah. And Thomas.

Sasha Roiz: You were probably on that karaoke tour of yours. Yeah. That's it. It's the only logical explanation. I think Kevin Murphy invited us and his wife was with us.

Tom Lieber: Oh, right.

Sasha Roiz: She was working in town too on another show. Yeah. We had a great time.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. And then we did this scene after. I remember.

Sasha Roiz: Here we go, shipping out the Cylons.

Magda Apanowicz: Shattered?

Tom Lieber: Yeah.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. That's got to be, yeah, that's got to be heavy.

Esai Morales: Oh yeah. It's got to be like a ton.

Sasha Roiz: Oh yeah, I remember the set.

Tom Lieber: Look at William.

Sasha Roiz: William loves this stuff. He wants to be a gangster.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh yeah.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. Willie loves to play the games.

Tom Lieber: And this is great cuz you're not supposed to be able to tell what's in the boxes.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. This is a, it's kind of like an Easter egg. So you don't really know what's in these boxes.

Tom Lieber: Oh, it's great.

Sasha Roiz: I think it's a ton of.

Tom Lieber: Oh, this is the Tauron Uprising news. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the Tauron Uprising.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh, that's what that is.

Tom Lieber: Oh yeah, yeah. I don't remember any of this. Avenging Angels. The Avenging Angels is the name of the game that Zoe and Tamara play.

Sasha Roiz: Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, but they're not It's not a real game. It's like in the V-world, it's a real game. It's like their own private little thing.

Sasha Roiz: Oh yeah.

Tom Lieber: And they're now a real girl gang in Caprica that's taking over the city.

Sasha Roiz: Oh wow.

Tom Lieber: And then this becomes a real thing. It's like a real gang. Like um, The Warriors or something. Mhm.

Magda Apanowicz: Wow.

Tom Lieber: So that's what, they get a lot of airtime on the news. Thirty years ago. Oh yeah, back to the flashbacks. Tauron. Tauron. And we're now at Tauron Orchards. Yeah.

Sasha Roiz: Oh my God, it's so beautiful. The set dressing. The set design. Yeah. Oh, I remember this apartment very very well.

Tom Lieber: Oh my God. Uh-huh. A little Willie. He's so cute. He's getting a little older too in this. Well, he he was getting a little older but he was also like growing throughout the season. So he started as this little little boy and by the end he was

Sasha Roiz: He's got peach fuzz. Yeah. Yeah. I know. He's going through puberty.

Tom Lieber: Uh oh. Look at him, so curious. And you can see a picture of his grandfather on the wall.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh, really?

Sasha Roiz: Oh yeah. Oh, I didn't see that.

Tom Lieber: Well, there's a couple, I think there was a picture of the father as well.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, they were very very detail-oriented with the set design. It was amazing.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. And there's some sort of old map of Tauron, I think, on the wall somewhere.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. Yeah, they were great about that.

Magda Apanowicz: Yeah. Now, what do you think they're doing?

Sasha Roiz: Oh boy. I remember this. Young Joseph getting into trouble.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh no.

Tom Lieber: The Dirteaters.

Sasha Roiz: Oh. Yeah. The Dirteaters. Dirteaters are here.

Tom Lieber: It's not the Welcome Wagon.

Sasha Roiz: No. That's right, now I remember all this. Here's Willie the little runt getting into trouble. And Joseph has to save his ass again. And he's got to follow him.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. Yeah. These kids are so great.

Sasha Roiz: And then there he is going out of the fire escape to see. He's a little peeping Tom.

Magda Apanowicz: Yeah.

Sasha Roiz: Oh, man. They're great.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, that's some heavy stuff for a little kid to deal with.

Sasha Roiz: Oh, he's so adorable. He has the best face. Oh my God.

Magda Apanowicz: He's going to grow up and look like Sasha.

Sasha Roiz: Just a miniature Sasha.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, this is so sweet.

Sasha Roiz: Look at that little face. He's going to get into trouble.

Tom Lieber: He's so concerned for his brother.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, his brother's like, just get back into the house. I got this.

Tom Lieber: It's good, right? Yeah. The older brother trying to protect the younger.

Sasha Roiz: Look at him. It's like an old soul. He's like an old soul already.

Esai Morales: He's a little old man in a kid's body.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, but what's he doing? He's looking for the gun.

Magda Apanowicz: Wow.

Tom Lieber: He takes the gun.

Sasha Roiz: He steals it. I remember the prop guys showing me the gun. It's amazing.

Esai Morales: They had two versions of it.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, there was a stunt gun and a real one.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, the real one's great. Yeah. It's heavy. Yeah, very very heavy.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, they didn't even want me touching it.

Sasha Roiz: No? No.

Esai Morales: Oh, I did. I touched it.

Sasha Roiz: We played with it a lot. Me and Alex. Yeah, me and Alex played with it a lot.

Esai Morales: Did you?

Sasha Roiz: I mean Alex. You're going to get hurt, Alex.

Tom Lieber: Grow up. Mhm. What did he say?

Sasha Roiz: He said, "Grow up."

Tom Lieber: Wow. What a little bastard.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. He's such a brat.

Tom Lieber: And look how, the way he sits down on the bed is like an adult. You know? He sits down like a little old man again. It's so funny.

Sasha Roiz: What a punk.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. Like, "I can handle this." And he takes the gun and he puts it underneath. He's like, "I'll take care of this later." He's like an old gangster. He's already like an old man. It's funny.

Sasha Roiz: But he's got his brother's back, right? Oh yeah. All the way. Always. Even at that young age.

Tom Lieber: We all got each other's back. Mhm. Look at them. He's like, "What are you doing? I'm trying to sleep."

Magda Apanowicz: Oh my gosh. Oh my goodness.

Tom Lieber: That's right. He's in the apartment.

Sasha Roiz: Oh my gosh. That's right. He's in the apartment. Oh my God, it's so good.

Tom Lieber: Oh, that's why they look at each other. They're like, oh. He's in the house.

Sasha Roiz: He's in the house.

Tom Lieber: No, he's just in the hallway. No, he's in the hallway.

Sasha Roiz: Oh, that's right. That's what it is. And that's why he follows him. Yeah, but they look so good. They look so good together.

Tom Lieber: This is a very interesting scene with a lot of great subtext and innuendo and What are they talking about here?

Sasha Roiz: Oh, this is the thing where he gives me the key. Yeah, yeah, he's telling me how the whole operation works and he's bringing me in now. And now it's up to me to be his contact, right?

Tom Lieber: Oh, so you were, now you were against it and now you're for it.

Sasha Roiz: Yes. I'm being manipulated by my little brother.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh.

Esai Morales: For the better.

Sasha Roiz: And you know, I think at the same time I'm I'm also manipulating him back. We're both playing that game.

Esai Morales: Oh, yeah, we're both doing it.

Magda Apanowicz: So what is the key for?

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. For my locker.

Tom Lieber: For the bus station.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, bus station.

Magda Apanowicz: What's in the locker?

Sasha Roiz: Money. My passport.

Tom Lieber: Oh, that's right. You were planning to leave him a long time ago. Mhm.

Sasha Roiz: So this is great. The way that he's like, so just go home now. Just leave. No big deal. Just leave. Oh, wait, I forgot to ask you a question.

Esai Morales: "When the tree surrenders all its fruit... ...it's time to trim from the top down."

Tom Lieber: Ah, so there you go. I have no idea what that means.

Sasha Roiz: I still have no idea.

Tom Lieber: What does that mean? Does it mean the tree is like a person? Like a human being? Maybe, it's a Tauron saying.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, but what does it mean? What are you saying? You're saying kill him?

Esai Morales: I think it's Tauron for "kill the bastard."

Sasha Roiz: But it's so cryptic. It's almost like a riddle.

Esai Morales: Yeah. That's Tauron, you know? It's like...

Sasha Roiz: It's very deep. "My shoes are too tight, I have forgotten how to sign my name."

Tom Lieber: Oh, that's beautiful.

Sasha Roiz: So he's saying, he's basically saying, "You do it." "Are you going to do it?" That's what he's asking. That's the question. He's testing me. Yeah, you're testing my will. Uh oh. What a smile. Yeah. So he's got the job. I don't think he's got any doubt. He's basically saying, "You're asking me what I already know." You see, look, now he's got the upper hand again. It's a game. It's a game of cat and mouse.

Magda Apanowicz: He's a little bit of a psycho though.

Tom Lieber: So, is that why you grab him?

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. He's like, "Yeah, I'll do it." And now I realize I have no choice. That I've been had. Not only that, but he's already taken the job and he doesn't care.

Tom Lieber: That's right, he doesn't care. That's the scariest part about Sam, that I that I find as a character.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. He doesn't seem to have a conscience in that regard. He doesn't have remorse. He's already lost so much that at this point there's very little left to lose. But there's also that side of him that loves deeply. He loves his brother. He loves his family. He has a code of honor.

Esai Morales: Yeah. He does have a code of honor.

Sasha Roiz: But uh, but like he says later in this season, you know, when he says, "I'm a killer." Yeah. And I think that's when it sort of sunk in for me how dangerous he is.

Magda Apanowicz: Uh oh.

Tom Lieber: I don't know what you guys think, but the Ha'la'tha, they seem so badass, like more badass than the Taurons.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, definitely.

Magda Apanowicz: They do. So much.

Tom Lieber: Oh my gosh. Oh, here's some intimacy.

Sasha Roiz: Awww. So this is post-coital?

Tom Lieber: Yeah, I think so.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh my gosh, I love the lighter.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, the lighter's great.

Sasha Roiz: Is that real? Is that a real one? They made it?

Tom Lieber: Yeah, they made it.

Sasha Roiz: That's so awesome. Wow.

Tom Lieber: We have a lot of talented people on our show.

Sasha Roiz: We do. Great props department, art department. Everything. It's amazing.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, but it's not a real tat, right?

Tom Lieber: No, it's a real tattoo, yeah.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, it's a little decal.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh, they look so good together.

Tom Lieber: You guys are a beautiful couple. You guys should really date in real life.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. He does date. I don't know who.

Tom Lieber: Whoa. That's going too far.

Sasha Roiz: He doesn't have like a girlfriend.

Magda Apanowicz: You do, you have a girlfriend.

Sasha Roiz: I don't have a girlfriend. What are you talking about? Are you trying to get me in trouble?

Esai Morales: Yeah.

Magda Apanowicz: He just broke up with his girlfriend.

Sasha Roiz: Sasha broke up with his girlfriend? This is not true.

Esai Morales: This is not true.

Magda Apanowicz: It is true, because you were not at the party with a girl.

Esai Morales: That's right.

Sasha Roiz: That's right.

Tom Lieber: But no, you guys have great chemistry, the two of you. Mhm. Paula is amazing. She's so good.

Magda Apanowicz: I just worked with her.

Tom Lieber: Did you?

Magda Apanowicz: Yeah. She was supposed to do my show. I'm the one who suggested her and she was like, "Yeah, I'll do it." And then she got the Caprica job. Mhm. She's great. And I was so bummed. Is she doing another movie? Is she doing anything now?

Tom Lieber: I think she's in England doing something. Oh, really? She's working. She was on Sons of Anarchy.

Magda Apanowicz: Yeah, she was on Sons. She's great. She's such a talent. Mhm. Great to work with.

Tom Lieber: And I love this lighter. I mean, it's so It's the same lighter that they had in Battlestar, which I think is great. That kind of continuity. I remember I gave it to him and I was like, "Don't you dare lose this."

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, and he gives it to Lee. And it's so sentimental.

Tom Lieber: A lot of people have it.

Sasha Roiz: No, but the history of it is very important. Wow, look at that. You can see the decal. Yeah. Mhm. So that was a good job. They did a good job.

Tom Lieber: Oh, the breakfast. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

Sasha Roiz: So now he's making a mess. Yeah. William. William's making a mess in the kitchen.

Tom Lieber: Here comes Mom. Who's Mom played by?

Sasha Roiz: Uh, Alisen. Alisen Araya.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, she was also very good. She was amazing.

Sasha Roiz: And she was also in The Dead Zone.

Tom Lieber: Was she?

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, she was in a show called The Dead Zone with me.

Tom Lieber: Oh, this scene I remember.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, this scene is pretty intense.

Tom Lieber: Mhm. They have to hide.

Magda Apanowicz: In the pantry.

Esai Morales: In the pantry.

Sasha Roiz: My God.

Magda Apanowicz: The little shutters on the door. It's so cute.

Sasha Roiz: What a great set.

Tom Lieber: The girl is the scary one. Yeah. That's the one we just saw in the last scene. Yeah. She was really good.

Magda Apanowicz: The blonde one? Yeah. Blonde with her hair pulled back? Yeah. Mhm.

Tom Lieber: What's her name? I don't know her name.

Sasha Roiz: No, I don't know her name either. But she's a very sweet girl in real life. She's the last person you'd think would play that.

Tom Lieber: Oh. He's got the gun.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah.

Tom Lieber: What's he doing? He's got the gun.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh my God. He's holding her. Oh.

Tom Lieber: This is brutal.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, this is brutal.

Tom Lieber: Oh my God. This is very hard to watch. Is he going to kill her?

Magda Apanowicz: Oh my God.

Tom Lieber: Did he kill her? It looked like he killed her.

Sasha Roiz: I don't think he did.

Tom Lieber: No, he's just choking her out.

Sasha Roiz: Wow. But then the boys come out.

Tom Lieber: Oh, that's what happened.

Sasha Roiz: They come out of the closet.

Esai Morales: Yep.

Tom Lieber: Oh, that's what happens.

Sasha Roiz: It's coming back to me now. A little bit.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh my God. Are they going to kill Dad?

Esai Morales: Are you Dad?

Sasha Roiz: No.

Esai Morales: You know, I'm their cousin.

Tom Lieber: No, you're the dad. Oh, am I their father? Yeah. You're their father. William Adama is the father of Lee and Zack. Not the father. Not the grandfather of Lee and Zack. Grandfather. Yeah.

Sasha Roiz: Oh, okay, okay, okay.

Tom Lieber: That's why they call you Dad. Yeah. And then your kids are Joseph and Sam. And Sam. No, no, no.

Magda Apanowicz: I'm so confused.

Sasha Roiz: They're my sons. They're your sons.

Tom Lieber: Joseph and Sam are his sons.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh, they are?

Tom Lieber: So William's the grandfather. And Joseph is the father. No, William Adama is the father. The character's name is William Adama. His children are Joseph and Sam. So the actor playing him is named Alex, right? The little kid here is played by Sasha. No, he's played by Alexander. Alexander. The other kid is played by Daleal. Daleal. So he's not named Alex. But you're named Alex. I'm named Alex. And the father is named Alex. The actor playing him is named Alex. Yes. That's so funny.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh, wow.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. She got the back of his neck and she just slit it. Look at that.

Magda Apanowicz: Yeah, but she slit it.

Tom Lieber: He's dead. He's dead. Wow. She just stabbed him in the neck. And the boys are watching. Oh my gosh. This is going to mess them up for life.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. This is the origin of the Adama family angst. Exactly.

Magda Apanowicz: What did I just watch? I missed it.

Tom Lieber: His wife gets killed. Your mother. My mother gets killed.

Magda Apanowicz: Did she just die?

Tom Lieber: No, he did. Oh, he did.

Esai Morales: The guy got killed. The other one.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. Wow. It's a rough scene.

Tom Lieber: Brutal. Yeah, it is. And he's got blood on his mouth. Mhm.

Sasha Roiz: She's so creepy.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, she's really good. "Let's finish this."

Magda Apanowicz: Oh my gosh. He's so small.

Sasha Roiz: I know.

Tom Lieber: What are you doing with that gun, little boy?

Sasha Roiz: He's going to use it.

Tom Lieber: Now he's going to use it.

Magda Apanowicz: No way.

Sasha Roiz: Uh oh. Look at that.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh my God.

Sasha Roiz: He's so brave.

Tom Lieber: What a punk.

Esai Morales: This kid.

Magda Apanowicz: I'm sorry, I have a big mouth.

Tom Lieber: That's okay.

Sasha Roiz: Oh my God.

Magda Apanowicz: Mhm.

Sasha Roiz: Oh my God. But it's so good. It's such a great scene.

Tom Lieber: And here we go again. This is another scene with no dialogue. It's just amazing.

Sasha Roiz: Wow. This is better than the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan.

Tom Lieber: Oh, no. It's intense. Wow. That was great. What a great scene. Uh oh. Here we go. It's late night at the Adama house. It's a new Adama house. Yep. That was a great scene. And I remember everybody was so sad that they had to get rid of that set.

Sasha Roiz: I know. We all loved it.

Magda Apanowicz: Did we?

Sasha Roiz: The two-story one?

Magda Apanowicz: Yeah.

Tom Lieber: Yeah.

Sasha Roiz: Well, what happened? I guess they wanted to get a new house.

Tom Lieber: I think it was just a budget thing, right?

Sasha Roiz: Oh, okay.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. And it was time for a change.

Sasha Roiz: Time for a change.

Tom Lieber: It's a new Adama family. I loved our house. It was awesome.

Sasha Roiz: I loved that kitchen. The kitchen was great.

Tom Lieber: And I loved the bar.

Sasha Roiz: My bar.

Tom Lieber: You did have a good bar.

Sasha Roiz: The bar was great. That's right. The first time we meet, the first time you see my character, you see me doing shots at the bar.

Tom Lieber: So, what are we doing here? So this is the first time you're seeing each other since you've killed somebody and he's been...

Sasha Roiz: No. So, Joseph has been hiding the fact that Willie's been spending time with Sam and now Willie's dead.

Tom Lieber: Oh. So that's the... That's the tension in this scene.

Sasha Roiz: That's right. So, Joseph is... Blaming him.

Esai Morales: He's blaming Sam for Willie's death because...

Magda Apanowicz: That's not right.

Sasha Roiz: Well, I think there's a certain part of him that blames himself because Willie was acting out.

Tom Lieber: Right. In response to how Joseph had sort of closed himself off from the world. You know, Joseph had become very cold and unfeeling. And Willie just needed a father figure.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. And so he sought out the one person that he felt could give him that. Which was Sam.

Tom Lieber: And I remember thinking during this whole season that Esai and Sasha were both so worried that this plot line was going to make their characters completely unlikable.

Sasha Roiz: Mhm. But it made them so sympathetic.

Tom Lieber: It did. It actually worked.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. I remember being a little concerned when I when I found out Willie was going to die. I was like, oh my God, the audience is going to hate me. They're going to think I'm the worst uncle in the world.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. Yeah. And what's interesting is what what I said a moment ago about the um the two boys being different in their personalities. Willie and Sam were so alike. Joseph and William were so different. But now Joseph's going to become like his father because his father, you know, shut down when his wife was killed. And Joseph shut down when his wife and daughter were killed.

Sasha Roiz: Oh yeah. So it's kind of repeating itself in that way.

Tom Lieber: I'd never thought of that. That's a great little note.

Sasha Roiz: And that's all. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This is that great handshake.

Tom Lieber: Oh yeah. The handshake.

Sasha Roiz: We practiced this a lot.

Esai Morales: Oh yeah.

Sasha Roiz: Oh yeah. We want to do the real handshake. I think this take that we did here was the first take. It was a really good one.

Tom Lieber: So you go in for the handshake and then you go into the hand-hug thing. What do they call that?

Sasha Roiz: Oh, yeah. The little I don't know what it is.

Tom Lieber: And then you do it. The Ha'la'tha handshake.

Sasha Roiz: That's right. It's very cool.

Magda Apanowicz: That's right. I'm going to do that to my boyfriend tonight.

Esai Morales: Oh my God. He'll probably just think you're weird.

Magda Apanowicz: Yeah, he'll be like, 'I'm going to go to sleep.'

Tom Lieber: The boys are bonded. And they bonded over this tragic death.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh. Look how sad you are. That's so cute.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah, he's so little. Yeah. Oh, look at his little head. It's so cute.

Tom Lieber: He's great. He's such a great actor.

Sasha Roiz: He is. And he's so sweet in person.

Tom Lieber: Oh. What a great performance. What do they do after that? They go to the orphanage?

Sasha Roiz: No, they go to um... He's going to go get the ink. He's going to get the ink. He's going to get a tattoo. He's going to become Ha'la'tha. He's going to be made.

Tom Lieber: A little gangster.

Sasha Roiz: Little baby gangster.

Esai Morales: Little baby gangster.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh, how old is he supposed to be in this?

Tom Lieber: I think he's supposed to be 11. I'm not sure. But he was actually 11. He was 11.

Sasha Roiz: What a great scene. Look at this kid's face. He's amazing. He's so intense.

Tom Lieber: And there's no talking. There's no dialogue.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. It's all in the face. It's all in his eyes.

Tom Lieber: He wants to be a man.

Sasha Roiz: Yeah. He wants to be Sam.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh, that's sad.

Sasha Roiz: But he also wants to honor his brother.

Tom Lieber: Yeah, because this is what Willie would have wanted. And he's doing it for him.

Sasha Roiz: But that's so awesome. Wow. This episode is amazing. I love this one.

Tom Lieber: Mhm. We haven't seen you guys together for a while.

Esai Morales: Oh, what's he eating?

Magda Apanowicz: Oh, this is the first episode of the season?

Tom Lieber: No, this is 15. I'm going to go get that. Okay. You need food. Eat. Have some food.

Sasha Roiz: This is the last scene of the episode?

Tom Lieber: Uh, no, no. This is um, not the last. No, no. Is this a flashback?

Sasha Roiz: Amanda finds what she's looking for.

Tom Lieber: What did you say?

Sasha Roiz: This is not, this is not a flashback.

Tom Lieber: This is a flashback to what?

Sasha Roiz: This is Amanda's memories of Zoe. But she's not looking at pictures of Zoe.

Tom Lieber: No, she's trying to find the key to get into Zoe's virtual world. And she's going to find the little key, the little flash drive.

Sasha Roiz: Yes. So this is going to be the first time that we see Amanda enter the V-world and search for Zoe.

Tom Lieber: That's right. That's right. And this is going to lead to that whole storyline.

Sasha Roiz: She finds it.

Magda Apanowicz: Oh my goodness.

Tom Lieber: That's right. What is that little thing?

Sasha Roiz: It's like a little flash drive. And it's her key into the V-world. And it's her key into all of Zoe's secrets.

Tom Lieber: Secrets and lies. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Sasha Roiz: Wow. But this is great because it sort of brings the whole family together in a way. Amanda's on a quest to find Zoe. Daniel's been on a quest to find Zoe. And now they're both going to be working together.

Tom Lieber: Yeah. And it's going to be a whole new dynamic for them. Because up until this point, they've been so at odds with each other. And this is going to be the first time that they really have to work together to find their daughter. So it's a really great moment for them. And it's a really great turning point for the show. Because now we're going to see them as a team. And we're going to see them working together to find their daughter. Which is a really great thing to see.

Sasha Roiz: I think that's the end of the episode.

Tom Lieber: Is it? No. What's this? Oh, this is the end. Oh, this is the last scene. So now we're seeing the aftermath of what happened to the city.
