Lacy Rand is a student at the Athena Academy on Caprica, a private religious school. She and some of other bright students, including Ben Stark and Zoe Graystone, unknown to Lacy, share a secret belief with the school headmistress, Sister Clarice Willow to the monotheistic cult of one god.

Ben induces Graystone and Rand to leave Caprica with him. However, Lacy gets cold feet and does not board the train. Ben, instead blows up their train and himself with a bomb, which results in the death of Zoe Graystone and Shannon and Tamara Adams, wife and daughter to Joseph Adams whom they didn't know plus many others on the train.
