A journalist, formerly of the Caprica Times, now anchor host of the wireless broadcast show The Colonial Gang.
No fan of Laura Roslin, McManus tends to be harsh in his criticism of her, her policies and her staff. Whether this is a reflection of his real feelings towards her, or whether his is simply playing to the audience is unclear (Colonial Day).
McManus moderated the presidential election debates between President Laura Roslin and Vice President Gaius Baltar (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I). He also announced the voting results of each ship during the Roslin v. Balatar presidential election (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II). In modern Earth, this is a job usually reserved to senior news anchorpersons, which leads to the assumption that McManus is the most reputable news journalist within the fleet.
