Intersun is the name of a starline company in operation throughout the Twelve Colonies.
Starlines are analogous to airlines such as Northwest Airlines or American Airlines of the real-world Earth.
Intersun apparently offered many flights to and from cities scattered about the Twelve Colonies. Almost all of their passenger liners were likely to be FTL-capable to handle the distances between each colony, but as with real-world Earth airlines, there were likely sublight passenger shuttles to move supersonically or hypersonically across a Colonial world from city to city.
Of the Intersun starliners, viewers have seen:
- Colonial Heavy 798 was the flight number for a small Intersun liner of Caprican registry chartered by the Colonial Government (thus its flight designation) to ferry Laura Roslin, other minor officials, and the members of the Colonial press to battlestar Galactica for its decommissioning ceremony. Colonial Heavy 798 was redesignated Colonial One by its pilot after Laura Roslin was sworn-in as President of the Twelve Colonies after the Cylon attacks. This starliner becomes President Roslin's principal residence and office.
- The Olympic Carrier is a large Intersun luxury passenger liner that seated as many as 1,000 passengers comfortably. Overpacked with other refugees after the exodus from the destroyed worlds of the Twelve Colonies, the Carrier was known to have 1,345 passengers onboard when it failed to make a Jump with the Fleet as they continued their flight from a relentless Cylon force. When it returned to the Fleet, it had apparently been compromised by Cylon forces and was armed with a nuclear warhead. Galactica's Vipers destroy the ship to prevent it from threatening the Fleet (33).
