Recon Viper Three is the callsign for a Colonial Viper piloted by Lieutenant Starbuck, who uses the craft in search of missing Blue Squadron pilots.
History
During an engagement with a new, more advanced model of Cylon Raider, Starbuck's Viper is shot down and crashes on a desolate planet ((Comics: Masquerade)).[1] Injured amidst the wreckage, Starbuck uses his communicator to send a distress call to Galactica. In the transmission, he identifies his downed craft by its callsign: "This is Recon Viper Three to Galactica... request emergency aid immediately... pilot down... respond please..." ((Comics: Masquerade)).[2]
The distress call is intercepted as a Cylon Centurion surprises Starbuck from a cave and attacks ((Comics: Masquerade)).[3]
