Simon says: "Ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-stop-shooting-me-ow-ow-ow-stop-stabbing-me-ow-ow-ow..."

Is it just me, or did Simon's appearance fall under the ""Black Guy dies first / fastest" cinema cliche? Not to start any arguments of any useful nature, but it just struck me that Simon's copies got whacked on average (screen time) much faster. (The link I posted seemed weird enough to add for humor or "WTF" responses.) --Spencerian 13:00, 22 November 2005 (EST)

I don't know, man. He certainly wasn't the first Cylon to die, and I don't know about fastest to die either. It seems to me that Doral blowing himself up or random Sixes or Sharons getting shot on Caprica or blown up in orbit above Kobol were rather "fast" deaths.
I think he was just caught by surprise b/c he was assuming that Starbuck didn't know about him and must not have believed there were any weapons she could use in the room. He is one of my "favorite" Cylons.
What do you think about the diversity in the show? In TOS, there were two Black characters who were recast as White characters in the RDM series. I thought that was strange since there is generally more diversity and "gender-equality", but it seems like Simon is one of very few Black characters, although there is the addition of Asian and Latino characters like Sharon and Adama. Rocky8311 14:21, 22 November 2005 (EST)
Oh, I think diversity is pretty good in the show. I wouldn't even pick nits about the lack of blacks as commanders in the show, since the Original Series already did that with Terry Carter. For the most part I thought about Simon's fate very humorously, so I hope I'm not coming off as some PC, overly racially-sensitive type. I think RDM is going to show us how Cylon culture's faring on their new homes, and I'd be really amused at the relative lack of diversity with their humano-Cylons, both genetically and personally--seems to me that the Valeriis aren't very different in terms of how they react to things--the same personality. I appreciate the gender equality--girls who kick ass, like Starbuck, are always fun to watch. We've seen many supporting roles such as Elosha and Venner that have depth and interest, so in the end, race isn't that much of an issue. But Simon better learn to heal himself as I think he gets offed far too quickly. Think about it: We lose the first Six about 30 minutes into the Mini-Series, and Leobens have a short shelf life. Valeriis get offed by the dozen, although a couple persist. I don't know, I guess I should worry more about Leoben, but then I know more about him than Simon. --Spencerian 15:33, 22 November 2005 (EST)

Dead

Why is he listed as dead? Just because two copies died on Caprica doesn't mean there are other Cylon copies of him out there. --DrBat 21:50, 11 February 2006 (EST)

Cylon Number

I don't know what other people think, but now that four of the twelve Cylon model numbers are accounted for, can we put a note on Conoy saying something to the effect of, "Simon is either Number 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, or 10? I couldn't figure out how to place it.--Wldkt1 18:39, 25 February 2006 (EST)

Again, this makes no sense to say "well, it's one of this list of 8"; far too complicated. --The Merovingian 19:15, 25 February 2006 (EST)

Image Talk

I think the image that was on before was better than this one, since it was clearer and showed his face better. This one is the common choice, since its one of the first shots, but I think the outside, day, well kempt close shot is better.Any comments?--Sauron18 3 April 2006

I also prefer the older one, marginally. --April Arcus 19:45, 3 April 2006 (CDT)
I prefer the older one for the more 8x10ish portrait quality. --Steelviper 20:37, 3 April 2006 (CDT)

Another atheist cylon?

I think it was the episode Torn but didn't Boomer (or another 8) imply Simon was an atheist (much like Cavill). She said something like you can't even speak his name or something similar when God came up. -- Meteor 17:00 18 January 2007.

No. Simon says, in Torn: "God has chosen this time, this place, to test us. Whether we fail or pass the test is up to us." The comment you're thinking of was an exchange between a Five (Doral) and an Eight (Sharon):
Five: Perhaps God would smile upon us for our mercy.
Eight: Oh, listen to you. You can barely even speak His name.
--April Arcus 16:29, 18 January 2007 (CST)
That was Leoben actually, who said the above, not Simon, the cc got it wrong. As for Simon being atheistic, there's no reason to believe he is, especially when he does say there is no answer in science or whatever. --Sauron18 14:20, 19 January 2007 (CST)
Leoben is one of the stronger believers is he not. I thought Simon was the one who seemed to doubt but maybe it was Doral...can't see it being Leoben though. He is probably the most faithful among the male cylons. --Meteor 25 January 2007.
I think Simons, Fives, Eights and Threes all vary in their devotion. In these models religion depends more on the individual than on say Six, Leoben and Cavil, of whom all copies of a given model seem to have the same type of view on religion. Anyways, we don't really know any of these, so it's speculation. --Sauron18 16:17, 25 January 2007 (CST)
The Fours, along with the Fives have sided with Cavil on the Issue of the Raiders clearly showing that this particular model is more interested in the destruction of the Survivors than the progression of the Cylons as a people. So far the Ones are the only model confirmed on screen as an atheist model but maybe the Fours just use "Rational analysis" and believe that their God uses Science rather than Divine Magic, or maybe they are not strict in their views and are either undecided or have no view on the matter. --Centurion 20:27, 17 April 2008 (GMT)

Pre-attack Sighting?

Hi...I'd added a note about the Simon who was working the polygraph during Adama's job interivew, back before the attack (seen in a flashback in Daybreak, Part II), then someone removed it...does anyone disagree that was a Four, or is there any other reason that sighting doesn't belong in this article?
