The Cylon Centurion Model 0005, created and designed by scientists of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol, is a model of Cylon used in various heavy to light labor and military applications until they rebelled, resulting in the first Cylon War. They are bipedal androids, with an average height of 6'6", composed of silver-chrome plating. The prototype of this model, U-87, was designed by Daniel Graystone, famed inventor of the holoband, 58 years before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. ...continued...

The Twelve Colonies of Kobol are twelve distinct worlds, located in a remote part of their home galaxy. For about 2,000 years they were home to the human survivors of the Exodus of Kobol. After the settlement, the colonies slowly began to prosper and eventually gave birth to a race of cybernetic lifeforms, known as Cylons. Soon after their creation the Cylons raged a devastating war on their creators' home planets which ultimately led to the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. ...continued...

The Astral Queen is a FTL-capable former starliner now given over to transporting prisoners between worlds. At the time of the Cylon attack, she was carrying 1,500 male prisoners to their pardon hearings on Caprica. It was originally captained by Wilkens and crewed by guards such as Seaborne and Starke. Wilkens is later succeeded by political activist and former prisoner Tom Zarek, first via hijacking, then formalized after parley with Lee Adama, in exchange for the assistance of the prisoners in obtaining much-needed water ice for the Fleet. ...continued...
