Regarding my removal of the "username similar to an article thing"

I've decided to remove this, since it's a bit ridiculous.

The name is identical or similar in spelling to an established article. Often, these usernames match the name of characters or technology in the two TV series.

Unfortunately, this is kind of difficult and asinine to establish; it's one of those things we got from Wikipedia, I guess. Consider that, for instance, Steelviper has a similar name to the term Viper. Same can be said to Serenity, for we have an article on Serenity. Thoughts? Questions? -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 11:53, 17 January 2008 (CST)

I don't really see the issue When searching, the default is "(Main)". You won't search in "User" unless specifically clicking a check box. Even then articles and users are easily told apart. --Serenity 14:06, 17 January 2008 (CST)
I'm sure there was a reason I added it in the first draft, but I see the point. We can still reserve the right to request or change user names if confusion exists, but I agree that it probably needn't be that strict. --Spencerian 17:03, 17 January 2008 (CST)
Yeah, I have no problem in asking users to change their name on a case-by-case basis. It's just the way that the whole thing had been worded... say that if you had a name similar to Bill Adama (like, for instance, a fictitious user named "Bill Adams"), then you'd run into that issue. Which is neither fair nor sensible. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 17:07, 17 January 2008 (CST)
