This page serves to coordinate discussion on a particular aspect of this Wiki. The formal recommendations of a project may be treated as policies.

The following is a list of templates used in this Wiki. To look at all Templates within this Wiki click here. This page is the raw XML code for the Battlestar Galactica Template Pack for the Wikipedia Toolbar Extension for Firefox.

This is also the home for creation of new templates. Because standards for templates should be kept high and to keep them well documented so their ease use, these guidelines have been established to keep documentation and templates easy to use.

  • {{From RDM blog}} - Used to cite RDM's blog.
  • {{sourcebox|optional}} - Used at the near bottom of articles to indicate that the article has sources that are internal to the wiki, and thus are part of the "Sources" namespace.
  • {{citation needed}} - A citation of an acceptable source is needed for the current text.
  • {{mainarticle|Article}} - Link to the main article. Good for section expansion pages. View template for more use.

  • {{succession box}} - Used to Succession's; Chain of Commands or Leadership Structure; Must be placed between {{start box}} and {{end box}}
  • {{next box}} - Used to For Inline Navaigation Succession; Must be placed between {{start box}} and {{end box}}

  • {{spoiler}} - Meant for warning readers and contributors that a page contains spoilers, which should be placed on the very first line(s) of the spoiler-inclusive content of the page as per the Battlestar Wiki:Spoiler Policy.
  • {{spoilerbelow}} - Same as above.
  • {{spoiltext|Insert Spoiler}} - Meant for blacking out text which contains spoilers, as per the Spoiler Policy.
  • {{spoilli|Insert Spoiler}} - Meant for blacking out text which contains spoilers, as per the Spoiler Policy. Used in lists.

Release dates and formats

A series of templates used for keeping track of episode releases in various formats is available at Format release list. If you edit any of these templates double your efforts on the Format release list page as well.

Warnings

  • {{copyvio}} - Prints out a warning message on an article page, stating that the content of that page has been identified as a copyright violation and should be deleted in order to avoid copyright infringement issues.
  • {{imagevio}} - Prints out a warning message on an image description page that the image has been identified as a copyright violation, and thus should be deleted.

  • {{deletebecause|Reason}} - Does the same as {{delete}}, with the exception that the user can add a reason, which is then added to the box in a predetermined place.
  • {{speedydelete}} - Speedy Delete Reqested (Reason must be given)
  • {{tfd}} - Template Delete Only!
  • {{qfd}} - Quote Delete Only!
  • {{cleanup}} - Outputs a note that the article in question has been marked for cleanup.
  • {{merge}} - Used on an article for which a merge has been suggested.
  • {{split}} - Used on an article for which a split has been suggested.
  • {{derivative}} - Used on a page using content which is derived from another non-wiki website's pre-existing content.
  • {{derivative2}} - Used on a page using content which is derived from another wiki's pre-existing content.
  • {{disambig}} - Used on a disambiguation page.
  • {{wrongtitle}} - Used when an article's name is wrong due to technical limitations.
  • {{lowercase}} - Used when an article's name is wrong because the first letter can't be lowercase
  • {{expansion}} - Prints out a note requesting that the page be expanded.
  • {{non-canon}} - Non-canon article. This template should be rarely used as Battlestar Wiki is not a repository for fan fiction. (For official products based from Original or Re-imagined Series content that differs from the aired television episodes, use {{separate continuity}} instead.)
  • {{fandom}} - Used on an article related to fandom or containing fan fiction.
  • {{air}} - Used on articles about episodes which are about to air.
