Captain Cole "Stinger" Taylor is the CAG of the battlestar Pegasus (Pegasus). Like many officers from Pegasus, Taylor is a humorless officer that seems to regard Galactica's officers as if tainted in some way. He feels that Commander Adama's son, Lee, has been given his CAG responsibilities through his father's influence.

When Adama is transferred to Pegasus on Admiral Helena Cain's orders, Taylor busts Lee Adama's role to a mere Raptor pilot to accompany him on a recon mission to the Unknown Cylon Ship ("Pegasus"). While on the mission tensions break out between Galactica and Pegasus. Under Cain's orders, Taylor relieves Adama at gunpoint. Lee is allowed to go to the back of the Raptor where he secretly contacts Starbuck, who is aboard the Blackbird stealth craft and has just returned from her own secret reconnaissance effort of the Unknown Cylon Ship.

Once tensions between the two battlestars temporarily cool, Cain receives a download of Starbuck's recon photos. Impressed not only by Starbuck's work, but in her brazeness, she promotes Thrace to Captain and to the duties of Pegasus CAG replacing Taylor, who had failed to notice Starbuck and Apollo's scheming behind his back (Resurrection Ship, Part I).

Later, Stinger is placed in the brig after mouthing off to the new Pegasus commanding officer, Commander Garner. Whether or not he'll be released following Garner's death remains to be seen (The Captain's Hand).

Notes[edit]

  • Although he wears a Viper pilot's patch on his right sleeve, Pegasus Raptor 861 was marked with his name when Admiral Cain is first flown to Galactica.
  • Ron D. Moore notes in his podcast for "Resurrection Ship, Part I" that it was difficult to get actor John Pyper-Ferguson back on set due to scheduling, etc., and that is why after briefly appearing in the teaser segment at the beginning of the episode, he has not actually been seen on the series since.
