Serena vs Serina

The booklet in the DVD box set of TOS lists her in the credits as "Serina". Not that I'm a big fan of that spelling, but I just thought I'd report it. --Steelviper 09:02, 5 January 2006 (EST)

Well, at least now there's a canonically official spelling. I recommend moving it to the correct article name, but you may need to delete a redirect page that occupies that space first. This may cause history to get messy, so be careful. Contact Joe if you're unsure (like me). --Spencerian 09:16, 5 January 2006 (EST)
You should find a second source. I wouldn't trust a DVD booklet as far as I could throw it. --April Arcus 13:45, 5 January 2006 (EST)
Good idea. There are a LOT of instances of Serena, so I'm going to hate to have to change them. I'll check the credits of Saga of a Star World and Lost Planet of the Gods before I do anything. I may post screenshots as evidence (then we can delete them after everybody is satisfied).--Steelviper 14:14, 5 January 2006 (EST)
Thanks for the drudge work, April. I was planning on doing that today. (I just didn't want to move the page until other eyes had confirmed the screenshot.) Fortunately a lot of the content added by Mokwella had the "correct" spelling. --Steelviper 09:43, 6 January 2006 (EST)

Screen Capture

Serina in the credits.

Well... it looks like there may be some work to do. I checked the beginning of Saga of a Starworld, and it also is spelled "Serina". Actually, it was pretty lucky that it even was on Lost Planet of the Gods, since all the other guests didn't have their names listed with an "as" other than her. Where should we go from here?--Steelviper 20:05, 5 January 2006 (EST)

Looks like "Serina" wins. A redirect will do for this page once it's moved, assuming I haven't moved it already, damn it all... --Spencerian 00:39, 6 January 2006 (EST)

New Pic

I put up a new pic on the character page. It's in color, and at a higher resolution. If anybody has an idea of a better scene to capture from, I'm game, but that was the best that I could do while scavenging for other screenshots (see:Rigel).--Steelviper 20:05, 5 January 2006 (EST)

The picture is awesome. The really cool part is that the actress still looks as beautiful today. Nice work. --Spencerian 00:40, 6 January 2006 (EST)

Redirect

I was about to make a redirect from "Serena" to this page (I had typed in "Serena" and gotten the "page does not exist" notice, then I searched for "Serena" and found this page), but the log says that Joe deleted it already as an "unused redirect". How can one tell if a redirect is used or not, and why should one care? -- Noneofyourbusiness 21:16, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Rule of thumb: If it's a spelling error you think others are likely to make, it merits a redirect. Since you actually committed that error, and since "Serena" is a common first name (peaked at 209th most popular in 2000), while "Serina" is not (peaked at 959th in 1998), I'd say go for it. --April Arcus 22:03, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Indeed, it's the most common way that fans spell it, even though it's a letter off. -- Noneofyourbusiness 22:13, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, I restored it now. It's not only a common spelling error amongst fans, it is also the spelling used in some of the old novelizations. As for the question, I can check on the server what links are visited... but as to why I cared, I'm not sure, because redirects are dirt cheap. As April said, if its a common spelling error, make a redirect. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 23:28, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
