Revision as of 22:19, 18 April 2007

I see this template is in use on Adama (TOS) ... just an FYI that I see the image underneath the main logo, rather than over it. This is on Internet Explorer 6 (which I have to use at work) ... I'll try it with Firefox when I get home. JubalHarshaw 15:19, 17 April 2007 (CDT)

What style are you using, Jubal? -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 15:23, 17 April 2007 (CDT)
Sorry, Joe, you caught me leaving work. I'm using bsgbook. JubalHarshaw 20:51, 17 April 2007 (CDT)
Oh.... I was having the same issue as JH, but I use the Monobook skin. It seems to work ok with the BSGbook skin. (This is one of the reasons why I run the "alternate" skin... to check for bugs.) --Steelviper 15:30, 17 April 2007 (CDT)
Ok, try it now with the bsgmonobook skin -- I forgot to update the z-index value in the "p-logo" class on that skin. (Note you will likely have to do a hard refresh...) -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 15:35, 17 April 2007 (CDT)
Much better. Silly z-axis. 3D web... what are we coming to? --Steelviper 15:48, 17 April 2007 (CDT)
Very nice. Me likey. -BklynBruzer 19:53, 17 April 2007 (CDT)

On my Firefox it works fine. OTW 15:21, 17 April 2007 (CDT)

Working fine for me on Firefox as well. JubalHarshaw 20:51, 17 April 2007 (CDT)

Works on Safari. --BklynBruzer 21:31, 17 April 2007 (CDT)

NOT showing in IE6 on my works laptop. But it was working on IE7 and FF on my home computer. I'm guessing we need to add something to the IEfixes.css files? --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 03:43, 18 April 2007 (CDT)

never cause it will get overwriten during updates. bsgbook.css and bsgmonobook.css maybe. ;-) Shane (T - C - E) 06:27, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
I was always told to modify the fixes css if there are ever any problems in IE versions. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 07:33, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
oh. ok. send code. i update. or better yet. contact joe ask him for password. Shane (T - C - E) 07:35, 18 April 2007 (CDT)

I've been working on adding this to TOS pages. Got every episode and I think most of the main characters. --BklynBruzer 07:13, 18 April 2007 (CDT)

You might have jumped the gun a little bit as others were still discussing the particulars, but in practice it looks very good, and the brighter badge right over the Bird fits well. If there is any issue, I figure we can disable the template, and it will be ignored on any page. Nice work. I'd rather have some boldness in ventures that keep some love on TOS articles (thus the purpose of the project). -- Spencerian 07:42, 18 April 2007 (CDT) (Talk - Contribs - WonderNumbers)
Sorry on jumping the gun. I just counted and I've done 100 TOS pages out of 185. --BklynBruzer 08:04, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
Uh... better count again:
TOS ‎(638 members)
There are 185 TOS pages on the first page of the category. Heck, there are 152 members of Characters (TOS) alone. That's a massive project, and I wasn't (and am still not) sure if it is quite yet ready for going live yet... --Steelviper 08:22, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
I don't think its a good idea to have begun rolling this out to be honest. Its still in testing stages right now. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 08:36, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
When it comes to going live we could get a bot to add the template to all pages in the TOS category. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 08:36, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
Oh, uh, I didn't realize that that was only the 1st page. Well, uh, I still did 100! And I think the fact that it works so well on the pages I put it on is good support for it going live. --BklynBruzer 08:38, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
I really like it and think it looks really cool, I just think its best to wait until we get it working properly before putting it on all the pages. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 08:41, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
If you (BklynBruzer) are running for the Mopper of the Week award, I think you've got it by now, but I agree it's probably better to do the rest by bot. Shane, is such a thing possible? (i.e. add "{{TOS}}" to all pages in Category:TOS?) --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 08:45, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
I'm just trying to do my part, but I fully support the bot measure. My clicking finger is getting tired. --BklynBruzer 08:49, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
The problem with the way people have been adding {{TOS}} in the articles so far is that its resulting in two line breaks at the bottom of the page before the categories box. To make it work more smoothly the bot should add it next to the cat bit as follows [[Category:TOS]]{{TOS}}. Example with whitespace / Example without. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 08:55, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
Ah, what I've been doing (As evidenced on the Aurora page) is just pasting it in at the bottom. --BklynBruzer 09:00, 18 April 2007 (CDT)

Good points, all. Let's stop manual entries of this template for now, assess any problems, then roll out any remaining changes by bot once things are ready (that includes me, too). We don't need to break pages with our enthusiasm. -- Spencerian 09:08, 18 April 2007 (CDT) (Talk - Contribs - WonderNumbers)

Minor manipulation of the template has removed one of the blank linespaces. Perhaps that will suffice? --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 09:09, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
Catrope removed the other. I think we're good now. --BklynBruzer 10:48, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
Cool --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 11:45, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
I say fire up the bots and roll it out.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by BklynBruzer (talk • contribs).
Yes.. the bot can do that. :-) Shane (T - C - E) 17:04, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
I know you are keen to roll this out but its not ready yet and requires more testing before going ahead with anything. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 17:05, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
Yes, let's not jump the gun. There's no rush here. We still need to work out a final version of the image for this template, as well as work out the IE6 fix. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 17:09, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
