Solenite charge

From Battlestar Wiki, the free, open content Battlestar Galactica encyclopedia and episode guide

A solenite charge on a fuel depot container on Gamoray (TOS: "The Living Legend, Part II").

A solenite charge is a timed electronic explosive device used in demolitions by Colonials, using the chemical compound solenite.

A solenite charge has an activator switch, timer, and light indicator as part of the charge's top edge. As seen during the application of such charges they may be attached using some form of adhesive (TOS: "Gun on Ice Planet Zero, Part II"), in others it may be magnetic (TOS: "The Living Legend, Part II", "Fire in Space", "The Hand of God").

Apollo and Starbuck use the charge's magnets while scaling Galactica's hull, as their suits did not have magnetic boots (TOS: "Fire in Space").

  • Unlike a G-4 explosive seen in the Re-imagined Series, the solenite charge includes both the compound and the detonator in one compact unit.
  • The charge is built from a 1960s CE USGI 20 round short-clip used in M-16 machine guns.
