Commander Air Group

The most senior pilot aboard a Battlestar, responsible for all "air" operations.

The Battlestar Galactica's last CAG Captain Jackson "Ripper" Spencer was killed in the opening minutes of the Cylon Attack on the Twelve Colonies. He was replaced by Captain Lee "Apollo" Adama, eldest son of the Galactica's commanding officer, William Adama.

"CAG" is a US Navy term that has gained widespread recognition through films such as Top Gun and television series such as JAG. The term CAG is technically obsolete in the modern US Navy as Air Groups are now know as Air Wings, it is still used though, especially on an informal level.
