Your potential design for the front page suffers from the same problem as the existing one. That is lack of propper navigation.

In my opinion there should be a single entry point for each of the 3 series and then through a series of sub-pages (no more than 2) lists of various headings, ie episodes, characters, cast, etc.

Using categories to navigate is not, in my opinion, a good method to find articles. In fact I came accross a page recently (Re-imagined Series References) that that was not linked to any other page, other than a page for Original Series references similarly linked. --Grafix 05:25, 14 March 2006 (CST)

I know. I just started so there is going to be stuff that I haven't done yet. Right now I am just trying to get a base to that I can start from some where. I was reading the discussion on the current main page so I am trying to take everything into account. We should reall have portals and not catagories for all the different things in the upper bar. --Shane 05:42, 14 March 2006 (CST)

I think what we need is a main page that just fits a screen with links to a short summary for each series. This summary then links to separate pages as listed in my previous post and then on to the main articles. Yep. I got that in my head. I am just trying to code it now. It's almost like following the format of Wikipedia (English), but with the Battlestar Idea. I got some cool names for the main sections. --Shane 06:06, 14 March 2006 (CST)

If you want to get his attention, you might have better luck if you drop him a note on his talk page. That usually triggers an email (if you've got it set up that way) letting the user know they have a message. Not everybody reads the Recent Changes compulsively. (Like I do.) To Joe: About the Navagation Sytle Used

The header shows is explained like this. There is a..

• TOS and 1980 Portal - Underneath
• RDM is in the upper box on left colluom

Each series get it's own main portal!

Show Summary, Episode Guide, Runners and Crew, and Actors and Acresses are all Portals to RDM Pages. This will remove the need for Catagory listings as it's very hard to navagate and it's all very confusing.

But Characters, Cylons, and Colonials are General Portals because they do not change because they just can't. Though we might have Kara_Thrace as Starbuck, it is not the same as Starbuck (TOS). They would go in the "Charecters" portal. Cyclon Six and Five lets say would go under the Cylon portal. Colonials would be things represent the colonials.

Then the all important "All Portals" link which will be a overall guide to the different sub-catagories on the page.

I was looking at the Wikipedia portal design, and it could work for this wiki also. The large Battlestar Wikipedia would link to a new page to what the introduction is now.
