- In the music video "You Got Lucky", a clip from "Galactica Discovers Earth, Part I" plays on one of the television screens.[2]
A band named Ookla The Mok makes a reference to Galactica 1980 in a song called Tommy: "Everything good turns to crap. It turns to crap and I don't mean maybe, just like Galactica 1980. It turns to crap. Crap!"

Maximum Press
Like most separate continuity series based on the Original Series, the Maximum Press comics ignore Galactica 1980, but do make the occasional reference to it.
- In War of Eden 1, Starbuck makes a reference to "The Return of Starbuck" when he mentions that, were he left behind, he'd find a nice deserted planet somewhere and christen it with his own name.

- In the guest strip for December 13, 2005, the main characters end up in the Galactica 1980 universe due to an unreality bubble caused by bad poetry.
