Overview
A young man with some flying experience as a boonie jumper, he is selected as a candidate pilot ("nugget") for Viper training under the command of Lieutenant Kara "Starbuck" Thrace.
Biography
Perry is a young man in his early 20s, who is selected from relative obscurity to become one of Galactica's first intake of trainee pilots after 7 experienced pilots are killed in a freak accident (Act of Contrition).
Once on the Galactica he finds himself under the command of Kara Thrace for training, alongside nugget pilots Constanza and Katraine, with whom he forms a friendship.
Thrown in at the deep end-- flying Vipers on their very first day of training, none of the nuggets perform particularly well. This leads to the entire intake initially being washed out by Thrace, prior to being reinstated on the orders of Commander William Adama.
Death
Perry's is selected to fly in with Lee Adama during a raid to secure tylium desposits from the Cylons (The Hand of God). He is apparently killed during the operation when an anti-aircraft bullet pierces his cockpit and pressure suit.
Notes
After Lee Adama's defection, commander William Adama considers a pilot named Perry to replace him as CAG, before ultimately settling on George Birch. Since Perry was not actually seen to die on screen, it is possible that he survived the battle. However, since Perry was a nugget, it seems extremely odd that the elder Adama would even consider him for CAG. It seems likelier that the "Perry" mentioned in "Home, Part I" was a different pilot altogether.
