Maya is a civilian within the Fleet who is selected from a list of possible adoptive parents drawn up by Tory Foster for Hera, the Human/Cylon hybrid-child of Karl and Sharon Agathon. President Roslin decides that the child will not be raised by her birth parents, summarily ordering Dr. Cottle to stage the hybrid's death as a means to secret the child from both public and Cylon knowledge.

Maya is told that the baby is given up by a Pegasus officer due to political and religious reasons (Downloaded). Maya names the child, Isis, unaware of her true origins (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II).

Maya becomes a teacher and aide to fellow teacher Laura Roslin when New Caprica is colonized (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II).

Being discovered on the planet.

Maya is killed during the Battle of New Caprica in a vain attempt to escape the Cylon-occupied planet. Screams from Hera lead Gaius Baltar, Caprica Six, and D'anna Biers to Maya's body -- and the child herself, which Biers' takes into possession (Exodus, Part II).
