Based on the white board at the end of the episode, there were only five deaths total for the entire episode (both Raptor crews and Garner). It's possible that just means there were a lot of injured personnel, and is good news considering the entire Pegasus could have been lost. --Ltcrashdown 08:48, 18 February 2006 (EST)

Particularly since Galactica lost some 85 crew when hit with a single nuke, while Pegasus took three. --Peter Farago 11:36, 18 February 2006 (EST)
The real number we'll have to examine is the next episode. For all we know, the casualties (deaths) could still be in the process of counting, since during the chaos of a battle (especially one as heated), there is no way for certain to keep an accurate count. It's best done in the hours (perhaps day) afterwards, when a thorough head count, or assessment, can be done. But yes, it does look optimistic, doesn't it? -- Hawke 11:42, 18 February 2006 (EST)
Consider that A) Galactica has had much of it's armor stripped B) Pegasus is more advanced C) Galactica lost 85 people but not directly because of the nukes; remember, there was a fire that they didn't want to get to the fuel lines (blowing up the whole ship) so Col. Tigh vented the atmosphere. I think it reasonable that Pegasus could have just been "lucky" and managed to get most of the people out of damaged areas before they got vented to space; again, it wasn't the nukes that actually killed that many people. --The Merovingian 15:07, 18 February 2006 (EST)

Looking at the episode(and the photo)I would think that baseship is either crippled or destroyed. I know Hoshi said that the baseship was moving off but, that was before PEGASUS fired her final salvo. Any thoughts?--Quig 17:44, 21 February 2006 (EST)

Given the evidence we have, I think "heavily damaged" suffices. --Redwall 19:40, 21 February 2006 (EST)

Left moving under her own power, Pegasus not intent on destroying it, probably would have tried to focus on the two still actually attacking it, etc. --The Merovingian 00:58, 22 February 2006 (EST)

Yes, when Lee Adama orders "left, full" after the first basestar backs off, I think the implication was that he as going to turn his attention to one of the other two. --Peter Farago 03:00, 22 February 2006 (EST)

Casualties

IMO, this article makes too much of the damage/casualties suffered by Pegasus, which in hindsight appear to have been fairly minor. Only five people were killed based on the survivor count - Garner, Richard Bayer, Lyla Ellway and the crew of Raptor 314. This makes the idea that additional raptors or vipers were lost implausible. --Peter Farago 14:30, 8 April 2006 (CDT)

I agree. --The Merovingian (C - E) 14:31, 8 April 2006 (CDT)

Doesn't happen on screen, so I won't speculate. --The Merovingian (C - E) 21:55, 19 July 2006 (CDT)

Materiel Losses

I think we should change the "heavy damage to Pegasus" to "minor damage to Pegasus" because there are no visiblie damages. The biggest loss is the life from their commande... --Enabran 19:51, 14 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 03:21, 15 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Might depend on how "minor" one considers the loss of FTL is in a combat situation. Significant damage does not have to be visible. --Spencerian 18:47, 15 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
There is one little hull breach. The FTL is off. The commander pulls a wheel and they can jump back. And no word about the damages in the next episodes. The damage cannot be "heavy". If it would be heavy they would need help from the Fleet or Galactica (and time to repair) and I am sure, they had mentioned that in a later episode.
