Lieutenant Joe Palladino, callsign "Hammerhead", was a Viper pilot on the battlestar Galactica. He was assigned to lead a detachment of marines to the civilian cargo ship Gideon.
Due to his inexperience at riot control, he was unable to maintain control of his forces and the irate civilian crowd during a food transfer. When an unknown person fired a weapon, the marines under his command began shooting at an unidentified enemy. Four civilians were killed during the incident.
