I thought of this a while ago and it never really took hold, though I don't remember why. I mentioned it to Peter and he pointed me at Wikipedia's Barnstars. Anyway, I thought it would be neat to have some kind of official-ish kudos system. To recognize long-established, quality contributers. I would like to call it the Star of Kobol since that was kind of the Medal of Honor of TOS. Peter and I then came up with a slew of rather silly award names. For instance, a series of "awards" for those who are prone to biting newbies: The Number Six "So Beautiful... So Fragile" Award (bronze), the William Adama "Nothing Else For it, Then" Award (silver), and the Laura Roslin "If I Want to Throw a Baby Out an Airlock, I'll Say So" Award (gold). Maybe that last is not such a good idea. *wink* Anyway, what do people think of my initial idea and should we just have one kind of catch-all award, or should we specialize the way Wikipedia has with their barnstars? --[[User:Day|Day]] ([[User talk:Day|talk]]) 02:06, 5 April 2006 (CDT) |

Visibility
Any ideas on where we should link to this? I'd like it to be available for folks that need admin help to access (without having to figure out who is an admin, or which admin would be active during a given time period). --Steelviper 13:34, 30 January 2006 (EST)
- I think on the main page in the little "The Wiki" box would be a good place and probably also on Battlestar Wiki:Welcome, newcomers. I'll wait for some more opinions before enacting that, though. By the way, SV, good idea to make this page. I was considering asking if there was some Admin discussion page I should know about now that I've got my silver sherrif's star. --Day 23:54, 30 January 2006 (EST)
You already have a silver star? Damn the alcohol -- I thought it was a steel handled mop I ordered!I mean... nice to hear that you got the star. :-) Joking aside, perhaps we can put a link on the left navigation menu to the noticeboard? As you can see, I toyed around with it earlier today (actually, Monday -- which was yesterday, now that I think of it). -- Joe Beaudoin 00:21, 31 January 2006 (EST)
- I guess a link the the community box would be ok... although it would rob "Community portal" of half of its content. (I'll try to brainstorm on some content for that page.) Day's link locations would be fine as well (though I'm not sure how many people really use the Welcome page). I did get the idea for this page from Day. He mentioned something about missing a "meeting" while he was off mopping. I realized we didn't have anyplace to meet so he could have something to miss. --Steelviper 09:03, 31 January 2006 (EST)
- Well, it would... right now. I'm kind of at a loss to exactly do with the portal myself. -- Joe Beaudoin 09:24, 31 January 2006 (EST)
Orphan?
What makes an article an "orphan" page?--Ricimer 15:18, 30 January 2006 (EST)
- In order to qualify for the Special:Lonelypages (orphan page) you have to no links directed to you. Some common examples of legit orphans include some of the disambig pages (like Apollo and Athena). They can have links coming off of them and still be orphans (like the disambig pages). Orphan pages would be difficult to locate as you could only find them by browsing by category, or by typing their exact name. The orphan list will never hit zero, but it's a good place to look for neglected articles that aren't referenced by anything. --Steelviper 15:38, 30 January 2006 (EST)
Red Info Box
Hey, uh... Guys... Can us admins edit the red info box? If so... where's it stored? --Day (talk) 23:28, 19 March 2006 (CST)
Red...info box? What? --The Merovingian (C - E) 23:30, 19 March 2006 (CST)

Barnstars The Star of Kobol
