As for computing, I use a custom built, AMD-64 Debian Linux machine called "Zen". ("Zen" is the name of the computer that ran the ''Liberator'' on ''Blake's 7''.) Joe Beaudoin Jr. is the webmaster and head wikipedian for the Battlestar Wiki. Much to my chargin, I am the oft-mentioned God that Six refers to almost on an per-episode basis. :-)
I hail from Vero Beach, Florida, best known to most as victim of both Hurricane Frances and Hurricane Jeanne in mid-to-late 2004.
When not working as a Product Process Senior at my local Best Buy, I do endeavor to get some work done not only here, but at Wikipedia (english). My user name at Wikipedia is Joe Beaudoin Jr.. (My username here -- Joe.Beaudoin -- is derived from my e-mail address at gmail.)
While I do prefer that you just contact me on my talk page, I can be contacted by clicking the "e-mail this user" link in the toolbox, itself being on the left margin of this page.
As for computing, I use a custom built, AMD-64 Debian Linux machine called "Zen". ("Zen" is the name of the computer that ran the Liberator on Blake's 7.) I did have a Toshiba laptop called "Orac" (yet another Blake's 7 reference), but I no longer have it as I gave the computer to my father for his real estate business.
I will be building a computer -- calling that one "Orac" as well -- that will serve as a Linux based multimedia center, with all my music and movie collections, to be loaded on three 300 GB+ Western Digital hard drives.
I also have an XBox, Playstation 2, Playstation Portable and, yes, a Nintendo 64 (for Goldeneye, otherwise I would've sold it),
P.S. Yes, you can edit my user page. I trust you. Besides, I can always re-edit your edits.
My tasks
While I really leave all the day to day editing to the contributors, leaving me free to concentrate on major issues (such as policy and so forth, being the "sysop"), I plan to work on the following:
- Work on articles pertaining to the original Battlestar Galactica as well as upload appropriate images.
- Create the following policies:
- Battlestar Wiki:Image Tagging - wikiproject/policy to tag all images added to the wiki, so that they may be categorized in some fashion
- Battlestar Wiki:Conflict Resolution - policy regarding resolution of disputes between editors; not that this is a problem, but I'd like to get something concrete set up should there be any issues in the future, given the growth of this Wiki
- Work on the following non-policies:
- Battlestar Wiki:Site support - place to beg for donations, which will go towards paying for the hosting and for future upgrades; not that it's a burden, but I want to give people the option to give back in whatever way they feel is best -- and some people like to do it financially
- Battlestar Wiki:Community Portal - links to outside sites and items related to Battlestar Wiki:Wikipedian Quorum
- Battlestar Wiki:Template List - list of all templates available for this wiki
I also plan to import and rewrite some policies from Wikipedia, mainly pertaining to style and the "nomination for administration" guidelines.
The red links are obviously stuff I haven't done yet.
