Source for "Peter" Laird's Name
Hi, Kahran. Could you tell us your source for the first name of Laird? Please note that "official" naming comes from the aired episode, including credits, and RDM (through podcasts or other official comments on the episode). Sites like IMDB, fan pages or news pages, and (strangely enough) sometimes even the Sci-Fi Channel official page are not good sources for this kind of information as they contradict each other. If you haven't found this name from an official source, we can put in a Note on the article that it is non-canonical until we get confirmation (as we did with many pages, including Galen Tyrol, Racetrack, Kat, etc. Spencerian 17:47, 28 September 2005 (EDT)
Flags
Can you please explain the edits you made to the colonial flags? I am curious as to how you concluded which flags went to which colonies, as QuintusCinna and I have had little luck in determining this. I'm also concerned by your lack of a source, and the fact that some of your assignments contradict on-screen evidence from the episode "Colonial Day".
Additionally, you seem to have duplicated a number of the flags I uploaded under different names, rather than simply uploading new versions. We should fix this situation. Please reply here. --Peter Farago 17:56, 3 October 2005 (EDT)
- Upon reviewing certain sceens in Colonial Day earlier and checking the flags shown on the Twelve Colonies page I noticed several discrepancies betwen what appeared on the screen and what appears on this Wiki. Primarily Virgon's flag which is shown with an orange symbol with a white centre on a yellow background with green and orage stripes. I also noticed that Canceron's flag shown in close ups had two green stripes along side it. "Libra"'s flag also had two grey stripes on the outside of its two red stripes. I did not change the order of the flags on the Colonies page, they were like that when I found them I simply updated them. By process of elimination I deduced that the one unused flag not listed on the Colonies page had to the Aquaria's flag. The multiple files were a procedural error of mine and I appologize. I am terribly sorry if I am in error on any of these updates, I was simply trying to relay what I thought were carefully analyzed and edited representations of the Colonial Flags. Feel free to revert any changes that I have made to the Colonial page and the images that I updated. I appologize. Kahran 18:35, 3 October 2005 (EDT)
- Don't apologize, I appreciate your contribution and comittment to accuracy with respect to flag coloring. I'll work on getting the images moved over to the right places, just for consistancy's sake, but don't worry yourself. There is one thing I'd like to point out, which you should consider for the future - many of the flag assignments on the Twelve Colonies page are tentative, so process of elimination is not a good means to determine unknowns. I know it seems odd to say that the wiki itself is not a trustworthy source, but remember that anyone can edit it. For a list of reliable sources, see Battlestar Wiki:Citation Jihad. --Peter Farago 18:45, 3 October 2005 (EDT)
- All done. Thanks for your attention to detail. Do you think any of the other flags are miscolored? --Peter Farago 18:11, 5 October 2005 (EDT)
- You're much welcome. As a matter of fact, I was just looking at a very high-detail behind the scenes picture from Epiphanies posted on SCI-FI's BBS. The picture showed a relatively up close image of the Colonial flags on set at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. The picture seen here shows nine out of the twelve flags in fair detail descending into the background, unfortunately Tauron and Canceron's flags are blocked out by a white balance placed in front of them and Leonis' flag was folded over by the wind. None the less it is worth taking a look at. -- Kahran 22:41, 5 October 2005 (EDT)
Patriot Resource
Kahran, when you refer to them, at least try to paraphrase. Copy and paste is outright copyright infringement. --Peter Farago 02:27, 19 November 2005 (EST)
- Alright, I've done some editing and its all cleared up now, thanks. -- Kahran 05:43, 19 November 2005 (EST)
Most Wanted
Congrats! You now have the distinction of being at the top of the Wanted List. Surely that's worth a note in your user page... (or something about yourself... or anything, really). --Steelviper 15:53, 16 January 2006 (EST)
Image Format
Kahran, when uploading screen captures, please use the JPEG format. PNG is not very efficient for photographic images, and is best suited for line art. --Peter Farago 11:12, 22 February 2006 (EST)
- I'll work on that next time, its just that my capture program defaults to png format for snapshots. -- Kahran 16:31, 22 February 2006 (EST)
- As does mine (VLC). So I end up having to fire up Photoshop and save to JPEG for each pic I plan to upload. I still prefer this to the capture programs that save to the clipboard, however, since you are then forced to process each capture as you take it. I'd rather be able to take multiple captures and then pick and choose which ones I want to convert and upload later. The holy grail of screen capture software (for me) would kick out to a high-quality (user defined?) jpg file, and would have both frame by frame as well as the ability to specify time index. Ideally all of that would be free (as in beer, as well as in speech), but I'm betting anything that did all of that would cost $. --Steelviper 16:38, 22 February 2006 (EST)
I use VLC as well and I just open paint and save as a JPG. The only hard part is getting that perfect clear frame. --Talos 19:18, 22 February 2006 (EST)
Season 2.. and I do Season 1
Cool :) Just make sure that you turn Starbuck in Kara Thrace instead. Starbuck we could be getting people like from the TOS saying.. what the.. so. :) And randomize the quotes if you can. Not from the same person.
Take a look at Template:Epguide. It helps. Use it like: {{subst|Epguide}} --Shane 16:24, 17 March 2006 (CST)
