Judhe Maximus was a corrupt judge who was being bribed by the Ha'la'tha to prevent their lawyer, Joseph Adama's clients from going to prison. He, however, was different from most judges on the ground he preferred to be called before receiving the money.

As Joseph Adama was still grieving for the loss of his wife and daughter, he accidentally slipped up and sent the money to Maximus before calling him to arrange the price in order to prevent one of his clients, Plexico Amarcord, from going to trial.

Angered by this, Maximus demanded twice as much in a meeting at the law courts, demanding that Adama himself pay it (CAP: "Reins of a Waterfall").
