I have doubts whether this will actually raise more money on an annual basis. Let's say that I, as a regular at BSWiki, generate an average of 20 hits per day, which makes for 7,300 hits per year. Compensating for vacations and all that, I'll round it down to 7,000. Surely 7,000 ad views are worth more than $10? Or do you only get paid for ad clicks or for unique visitors? --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 05:59, 16 November 2007 (CST)

To clarify what Mercifull said, paid ad impressions only work when dealing with image banner ads or flash videos, and thus pay on a "cost per thousand" (abbreviated CPM, with "M" being the Roman numeral for thousand). Text ads only pay on a "cost per click" (CPC) basis, which varies depends on how much the advertiser is willing to pay per click. If you're an established website, like we are, with a large number of visitors, it ads up. Smaller websites are lucky to get mere cents a day. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 11:32, 16 November 2007 (CST)

Financial viability

I have doubts whether this will actually raise more money on an annual basis. Let's say that I, as a regular at BSWiki, generate an average of 20 hits per day, which makes for 7,300 hits per year. Compensating for vacations and all that, I'll round it down to 7,000. Surely 7,000 ad views are worth more than $10? Or do you only get paid for ad clicks or for unique visitors? --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 05:59, 16 November 2007 (CST)

Noone gives money anymore for impressions. It's only ad clicks that get the money. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 07:58, 16 November 2007 (CST)
