Lt. "Jolly" Anders was the third in command of the Battlestar Galactica Air Wing under the command of Capt. Jackson "Ripper" Spencer. Anders replaced Lt. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace after she was thrown into the brig for striking a superior officer.
Jolly's ship was destroyed during the renewed Cylon Attack while en route to Caprica. (Mini-Series)

The call sign was a homage to Jolly from the original series.
