* Tough one. I'm not sure there's much point, just yet, since Cylon identity appears to be a fuzzy concept. Ergo, unless/until we hear an instance of Number Five referred to by some alias '''other''' than "Doral", it's as good a designation as any. There's some suggestion that any human name adopted by a Cylon agent is an alias, not a name they think of themselves as (with the exception of Caprica Eight and Galactica Eight, both of whom actually think of themselves as Sharon Valerii). Making it more complicated, it seems to me that not all, say, Number Threes are actually 100% the same 'person'. There's a definite sense that resurrection is not just about booting up a replacement "clone", but actually installing the personality of one dead instance and using it to boot a new one. Each instance has its own memories and experiences. Those may eventually sift their way into a common information pool (shared not only by other instances of the same number, but all Cylons), but the sense of being the one that actually experienced it appears to be unique to a given instance. For example, only Caprica Six appears to be hallucinating Baltar, not all Number Sixes (Numbers Six?). Only Caprica Eight and Galactica Eight appear to be having severe personality issues over their experiences as Sharon Valerii, not all Number Eights; although there's a hint that it may be a 'bug' in the programming of Number Eight in general that makes her susceptible to it. Furthermore, Galactica Eight (now on Caprica) is still having those issues despite resurrection, just as Caprica Six is still attached to Baltar post-resurrection.--[[User:UncleMikey|Uncle Mikey]] 16:55, 3 March 2006 (CST)

  • Tough one. I'm not sure there's much point, just yet, since Cylon identity appears to be a fuzzy concept. Ergo, unless/until we hear an instance of Number Five referred to by some alias other than "Doral", it's as good a designation as any. Furthermore, Galactica Eight (now on Caprica) is still having those issues despite resurrection, just as Caprica Six is still attached to Baltar post-resurrection.--Uncle Mikey 16:55, 3 March 2006 (CST)

There's only one passing reference to this model as a "Five", wheras I seem to recall that these models are called "Doral"s by other Cylons a few times. Perhaps it is worth noting that this model, like a few others, seems to have adopted its "human name". OTW 15:28, 14 August 2007 (CDT)

Is that true? I looked and only found one instance of referring to other Fives as Dorals, from Exodus.
BALTAR: I had the most fascinating chat with one of the Dorals.
Baltar may not know his model number, or is use to dealing with the one (PR Exec) known as Doral. There's another interesting line from Litmus:
ADAMA: The bomber was another copy of a man we knew as Doral.
This implies to me that the PR Exec was the only real Doral and the others are simply Fives. This is separate from the Brother Cavils or Leobens or even D'Annas but may also apply to Simon (only used for one of the Fours).--Tim Thomason 00:52, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
