Welcome to Battlestar Wiki![edit]

Welcome to the Wiki, Frontier_clm. Feel free to tell us about yourself on your user page. Before you get started on other edits, please read the Standards and Conventions, which details the policies we use in editing pages (this differs from many other wikis in its particular use of verb tense, abbreviations, formatting, and the like). If you need help in learning how to use the MediaWiki tools supported here, you can check out the tutorial and the wiki markup code pages for assistance.

Please read the articles "What is Battlestar Wiki" and "What Battlestar Wiki is Not." This important information details what contributions are acceptable in this encyclopedia.

We encourage you to participate in any projects on Battlestar Wiki, which work to enhance a particular subject or extension of the wiki. These include the Original Series Article Development Project and several language translations of Battlestar Wiki. If you have a new idea for a new project, visit the Think Tank, where we hash out large-scale ideas before implementing them.

Also, if you have any questions or suggestions you wish to offer, please feel free to do so either on an article's talk page that's relevant to the subject, the Wikipedian Quorum or the Administrators' noticeboard. Remember to sign your posts on any talk pages using four tildes (~~~~)!

We look forward to your contributions to the community! --Talos 17:41, 17 October 2006 (CDT)

Military Ranks edits[edit]

I did a partial revert to your edits on Military Ranks (RDM). I left the reversal of the insignia, but undid your edits to the table. It has been discussed at great length on the talk page. Equating Commander (BSG) to Rear Admiral (USN) - and splitting it into RA upper half/lower half - does indeed make a nice looking rank chart with a perfect 1:1 equivalence, and at one time it looks like that, but his role in the show is more that of a ship's captain. To that end, it makes the most sense to not strive to get that 1:1 list. It's just meant as a guideline to maybe understand it better, but the purpose of the page is not to force BSG into a direct comparison with the US Navy. There is no need for that, as there are obviously differences already with the mix between army and navy ranks.
Furthermore, there is some circumstantial evidence that Adama and Cain are Rear Admirals. The rank is mentioned in dialogue in the Extended Version of "Pegasus", the rank pin has 2 bars and there are 2 stars in a Dradis display next to Pegasus (See the footnote to that rank). Maybe you meant that Cain should be one rank higher than Adama, but they wear the same insignia. --Serenity 13:48, 17 March 2007 (CDT)

Valkyrie edits[edit]

Just to let you know, I've reverted your changes to the Valkyrie article, because "BSG" stands for "Battlestar Group". "BS" is typically part of the hull number, or ship registry, which in Valkyrie's case, is BS 41. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 12:19, 10 April 2007 (CDT)
