Welcome to Battlestar Wiki!

Greetings, AdmiralMarcus, and welcome to Battlestar Wiki! I'm pleased to tell you that you have full editing privileges on every wiki in the Battlestar Wiki network. I hope you enjoy your stay with us and am looking forward to your contributions to the Wiki! Why not begin by telling us a bit about yourself on your own user page?

As you may already know, Battlestar Wiki covers all the Battlestar Galactica series from past to present, in addition to authorized merchandise. Presently, we don't cover fan fiction, but our sister-site, Battlestar Pegasus, does so. We're also not a discussion site, although we do have an ever-growing Battlestar Forum where people can discuss the various shows and non-BSG topics as well!

To get started on the wiki, we suggest that you check out our tutorial, experiment in the sandbox (a test editing area for those learning wiki code), and review some of our basic policies (which have important differences from other SF wikis). For some general questions and answers about the navigation and operation of the Wiki, check out the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Of course, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you are more than welcome to bring them up at the Chiefs' noticeboard (which is frequented by the administrators of the Wiki) and at the Galactipedians' Quorum (which is the hub for contributors, who are called "Galactipedians").

Furthermore, if you don't wish to see the ads, then please consider upgrading your account to a paid membership, which costs only $10 USD a year and helps support the wiki financially. Becoming a member also entitles you to our raffle, where you can win gift cards, merchandise, and other prizes! We think this is very cool, and we hope you do as well!

Thank you for joining us! Hope to see you soon! --Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 04:26, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Source for the TOS star chart

Hi, there. I'm curious about the source of the "BattleOfCimtar map.png" star chart you added to The Twelve Colonies (TOS) and Battle of Cimtar articles. TOS articles could always stand to get "more cowbell," but still, the information should have as official a source as possible and shouldn't be derived by viewers. The TOS universe, in comparison to the Re-imagined Series, just didn't have much in the way of science, much less charts. Could you let us in on the source of that graphic? Thanks. --Spencerian 22:04, 29 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I have updated the image description a bit to clarify the source. Basically, I merged a number of screencaps from the early part of SAGA OF A STAR WORLD as there are several good images of the entire Galactica bridge tactical map. The locations of the basestars are provided by Colonel Tigh, who notes they are within striking range of Sagitara, Virgon and Caprica. The location of Borallus and the intended route to Carillon is shown by Sire Uri, and the Nova of Madagon and Carillon is pinpointed by Apollo a few seconds later in the same scene. It's a little bit of "original research" on my part, but at least the image itself is very closely based on the actual BSG map. By the way, we still see the same (Colonial-) star systems on the tactical map in the last episode of the original series!!!! So there is a bad continuity problem. Thanks for replying. Since TOS has so little information to go on and as you used the series screencaps itself to put together the image, I don't have any objections, especially since you noted how you sourced it. Here on Battlestar Wiki, we allow sourced original research (given this is a fictional universe) and call it "derived content." You followed the guidelines on it close enough, and I'm sure everyone will appreciate the hard work. Thanks for the contribution and the image update! --Spencerian 22:27, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
