I actually wasn't finished with it yet, I was just using the sandbox to test what I had out. Sorry about the confusion. I've finished it off and posted it on my sandbox page at User:OrionFour/Sandbox. I've designed it to be fully compatible with the Original Series, so long as you switch the series to "tos" and turn off promomat. I've also intigrated a few new features which can also be easily turned off (or deleted) if we decide that we don't need them (such as Full Episodes, Teasers, Promo Materials etc). --OrionFour 17:43, 18 December 2007 (CST)

I've got an idea, I'll just tack on all the things I added since I was in the sandbox last night, at the end of the current template, and add values for 1980 where needed. I wasn't sure what we wanted to do about Galactica 1980 when I made the template, because it doesn't actually have a season page per se. That's especially important when dealing with the season chronology. In my finished template I adjusted it so that when you add "tos" as a series value, the season chronology disapears, however truthfully I'm not sure if we want to just have a chronology redirect to the 1980 main page or not. My feeling is that if we're not going to create a definite season page for 1980, we should just leave it out of the template. --OrionFour 19:41, 18 December 2007 (CST)
We should probably work on bringing 1980 up to the same standards as the more popular continuities. I'm betting a project along those lines will likely kick off once the DVD release of 1980 comes through. Nice work on the template! We should probably give everybody a little more time to make comments/suggestions, and then go for it. --Steelviper 11:09, 19 December 2007 (CST)
Speaking of, I (groan) pre-ordered it from Amazon weeks ago. Oh the pain, the pain. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 13:25, 19 December 2007 (CST)
Thanks! Yeah I was thinking we just keep it here until everybody's done with the revisions and everyone is satisfied. There really ought to be something for 1980. In any case, me and Shane added values for 1980 in case we ever do create a season page.--OrionFour 13:40, 19 December 2007 (CST)

Looks good. Maybe we could delete the DVD info for each individual episode then. Makes more sense to just list that once per season, except for specials like the Miniseries or "Razor" --Serenity 09:30, 19 December 2007 (CST)

Concur. DVD release is a property of the season, except for individual releases. --Steelviper 10:45, 19 December 2007 (CST)
I also agree. Now that we have this infobox, that field can be removed from the episode data infobox. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 13:25, 19 December 2007 (CST)
Sounds like a good idea to me. On that note, I'm finding that the unbox is trouble. The unbox link only goes straight to Season 1 of RDM in all cases, and the purchase link can only include one item (ie for RDM Season 1, there is a cheaper regular set and an HD DVD set; there are two Season 2 DVD sets). Thoughts?--OrionFour 13:40, 19 December 2007 (CST)
The Unbox links are a bit complicated. I'll need to generate new ones, so just leave that to me. ;-) -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 13:45, 19 December 2007 (CST)
Not to rush things (heh) but I was going to add the collapsible date fields for the Season Templates that gets the dates from templates so we can use them everywhere. cf. User:Shane/Testing Area Shane (T - C - E) 13:44, 19 December 2007 (CST)

What's up with the "full season" thing? Are there non-full seasons? Also, the parameters should probably be documented, cf. Template:User Data. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 12:41, 19 December 2007 (CST)

Oh yeah that was just a way to find a place for the forum links. Honestly, I wasn't happy with that either, since the word season became redundant in those three lines, I just couldn't think of a better way to do it. Ideas? --OrionFour 13:40, 19 December 2007 (CST)
How about changing "Full season (discuss)" to "Discuss this season at Battlestar Forum" or something similar? --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 14:03, 19 December 2007 (CST)
Alright, I've changed it to see what it looks like. What do you think, does it look good? We could also link the entire sentence to the forum subsection, link only the "Discuss" to the forum subsection, link "Discuss" to the forum subsections and "Battlestar Forum" to the general forum main page, change it back, or do something else.--OrionFour 15:16, 19 December 2007 (CST)

Only now that param docs have been added do I fully appreciate the wide range of possibilities this template offers and the work OrionFour put into it. It looks pretty production-ready to me right now, except for the collapsible airdate thingies, which still don't seem to work. What's up with them? --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 05:47, 21 December 2007 (CST)

They work. They are based off templates that would be on the media wiki so they can be used by all sites. I enabled interwiki template inclusion. It just needs to be set in the code to read off Media Wiki and then they need to be created. Also working on "HIDE" options... yet to be working of course. :) Shane (T - C - E) 07:35, 21 December 2007 (CST)
The collapsing works, but that's not what I meant (I should've explained myself better): there just aren't any airdates in them. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 07:46, 21 December 2007 (CST)
I believe that the channel that airs BSG in Canada is called SPACE, and it's on first-run, so I believe that means that it's aired at the same time as it is on the SciFi channel. Also, Canada is Region 1 right? Do we need a Canada box for the DVDs in that case?--OrionFour 10:02, 21 December 2007 (CST)
Thanks I actually had a lot of fun doing it. As for the parameters, the only things that still need to be added are the airdate and dvd stuff pending Shane's testing, and the unbox which I left out bc I didn't know how Joe wanted it.--OrionFour 10:35, 21 December 2007 (CST)
I'll work on it later this week. Work been killing me. :X Shane (T - C - E) 17:28, 21 December 2007 (CST)
Hey just wanted to check in and see how this is coming along.--OrionFour 21:17, 7 January 2008 (CST)
Another week. But we can switch to the version without my changes. I have to work on the media wiki first anyways. :) Shane (T - C - E) 23:21, 7 January 2008 (CST)
Alright sounds good. We can probably work on it tomorrow when everybody is online and editing. Let me know if you need any help with this stuff.--OrionFour 00:53, 8 January 2008 (CST)

Hey everybody, sorry for my absence in the past couple of weeks, I've been tied down with a new job and things have been hectic. They're settling down now, and I'm finally finding the time to contribute. I've been itching to get this template out of production, and I'm just wondering what else we can do to complete it.

  1. My apologies to Shane, I know I said I would take care of things with the episode airdates and dvd information, but it's been a few weeks, and I'm noticing you've worked on getting them ready recently. What do you want to do about them?
  2. What about the Hulu episodes? How would we go about linking to a season's list of links to Hulu episodes?
  3. What else does the template need?

--OrionFour 01:57, 25 January 2008 (CST)

I said we can go ahead an do this, but take my stuff out. I been on the media wiki for the past hour or so fooling around with the new dateing system. :) Shane (T - C - E) 02:16, 25 January 2008 (CST)
Alright will do. I'm going to go ahead and start putting them up, we can always add stuff later.--OrionFour 03:24, 25 January 2008 (CST)
