Talk:Arrow of Apollo/Archive 1

Discussion page of Arrow of Apollo/Archive 1

The possibility that the Arrow is a key that uses light makes sense archeologically since many human tombs in real history have used sunlight as a mechanical key, marker, or orienting device. It also fits the naturalistic SF concepts that avoid Deus ex Machina effects. Doesn't mean we won't see some serious stuff, though. Pure speculation based on the arrow closeup in Home, but better than what I thought two weeks ago. Spencerian 21:48, 22 Aug 2005 (EDT)

Speculation vs. Fact[edit]

What do we deal with here on the BSWiki? The Facts or Speculation? I refer to the main article, not this discussion page. The last line "...Arrow may be an optical key..." this is speculation, or does the author have data to back that up? -Colonial one 23:45, 22 Aug 2005 (EDT)

Meh. I say get rid of it. We'll know for sure next friday, anyway. --April Arcus 00:28, 23 Aug 2005 (EDT)
While BSG Wiki is a wiki, we generally do allow speculation, spoilers and POV provided that there is some basis to it from an episode, presss release, or from Ron D. Moore itself. I edit on Wikipedia myself (look at all the Matrix stuff) and know that POV there is discouraged there without signficant basis in fact. Here, speculation, rumor, and conjecture are part of the fun and allowed once there's something to base it on. If a person disagrees with something here, we generally add an opposing comment below it (as opposed to outright deletion or reversion) so we all get at least two sides of a viewpoint. When the question is answered, we remove the conjecture and add the event. Remember that we're dealing with a SF show and, unlike some elements of non-fiction and history, some events or things may never be explained--which is one of the reasons many of us enjoy coming here--to imagine. Or do you know of someone who shoots arrows with rhinestones on a regular basis? :) Spencerian 00:33, 23 Aug 2005 (EDT)

Some Speculation Ended: Any salt for my crow dinner?[edit]

A preview picture on the official Sci-Fi web site shows the Arrow used as an arrow. (Now included in the article.) Whether a person is actually holding the bow or if the arm and box are part of another mechanism is not discernable as yet. You (collectively) were right: I was wrong.

Preferably, I prefer my crow grilled, with some lime and a glass of Chianti. Spencerian 16:14, 23 Aug 2005 (EDT)

One crow, comin' right up! =) Colonial one 20:09, 23 Aug 2005 (EDT)

Tomb of Athena[edit]

Wouldn't the latter portion of this article be better suited for use on Tomb of Athena, currently a redirect? --April Arcus 23:52, 27 August 2005 (EDT)

Looks confusing. There is more talk as a whole in the wiki on the Arrow than the Tomb, and the Arrow was given more attention than the tomb. Still, a section in the Athena article on the tomb may be more appropriate. I'll look into moving that data in detail in Athena and condensing the data in the Arrow article.. Sorry, I went and gave it a try before seeing your reply here. Feel free to revert any of my edits if you find them especially poor. --April Arcus 00:40, 28 August 2005 (EDT)
