Integration in templates

Looks good. We could also integrate this in Template:Episode Data and make the (discuss) link in episode boxes point somewhere useful, e.g. to a subforum about the episode in question. This means the forum admins will have to create a subforum for each and every episode. Currently, there are 62 known RDM episodes (of which 55 have aired), 21 TOS episodes and 10 1980 episodes, a total of 93 subforums to be created. For characters, we could just use the search URL from the proposal, since it would be cumbersome to go around and create subforums for all the characters as well, and some threads are about multiple characters. We do need to do the search thing well for TOS/RDM/1980 cases (i.e. we need to be able to limit the search to one subforum), and we might also want multiple keywords for a single page (e.g. on the Kara Thrace article, link to a search for both "Kara Thrace" and "Starbuck" in the RDM subforum). This will require some template trickery that I'll try to start with this week. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 11:51, 20 August 2007 (CDT)

A subforum for each episode is really overkill. A thread I can see, but even then the old episodes will hardly have any discussion, because most things have already been talked about.
I can see a subforum for the most important characters though. GalacticaStation/RagnarAnchorage does that. Though we don't really have many users at the moment to take advantage of it. --Serenity 12:22, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
Like said above, I don't think per-character subforums are gonna work, because a good many threads are about multiple people (especially shipping threads). As to the episodes, I agree that the first three seasons won't be discussed much. How about per-episode subforums starting with Season 4? They are definitely gonna be discussed. For the rest of the episode, we could have subforums for TOS, 1980, RDM S1, S2 and S3. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 12:46, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
Why can't we just have a thread for each episode? Much easier to maintain. --Serenity 13:14, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
Because people will want to discuss multiple things per episode, especially where multiple storylines (like Caprica/Galactica in S1, Kobol/Galactica in S2 and baseship/Galactica in S3) are involved. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 16:42, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
Which can be done perfectly fine in own threads in the season subforums. I don't know of a forum that has subforums for each episode. Especially storyline discussions are more appropriatly categorized per season and not per episode. --Serenity 07:45, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
That's true. BTW, would you mind not signing the headers? ;) --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 07:47, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
Sorry, I'm on an ancient (PII-233) computer at the moment that's a bit too slow for all these newfangled internet things like ads and flash. Especially when a lot of stuff is open. So I have rather long delays when opening pages and scrolling. That's how my sign ended up there. --Serenity 08:19, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
I see. As a matter of interest, which browser are you running? --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 08:36, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
IE. Hence the lack of a spellchecker :) --Serenity 09:05, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
Sadly, the vBulletin software doesn't allow these kinds of search links. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 05:40, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
