Second Exodus
The Second Exodus is a term used in official documentation from the Colonial Government to describe the exodus from Cylon-occupied New Caprica (Collaborators). After initial contact with the Galactica, the New Caprica Resistance agree on a time and date far the rescue of 39,000 colonists. Working with Sharon Agathon on the ground, the New Caprica Resistance gets a hold of the launch keys to the grounded civilian vessels and prepares to hit cylon targets across the city.
On Galactica,Adama orders the ship to conduct an intra-atmosphere jump, avoiding the detection on dradis from the basestars in orbit. While in freefall, it launches Blue Squadron, who in turn performs hit-and-run attacks on the Cylons as well as blowsing open the main gates of the shipyard where the grounded civilian ships are being kept. Before the Galactica impacts the surface, she performs a second jump back into orbit.
On the surface, the block captains help guide their groups of civilians to the waiting ships. Pre-instructed pilots are lined up and assigned civilian vessels to pilot off the surface. Blue Squadron provides cover for the quickly escaping civilian vesels as the jump away. In the end not all civilian ships make it, and causlties are estimated to be 2000. The remaining 37,ooo survivors return to the fleet.
It is unclear whether a "First Exodus" refers to the exodus from Kobol over 2,000 years prior, or the flight from the Twelve Colonies after the Cylon attack.
