Doctor Villem Fuest was the lead scientist and acting head of Research Station Omega.[2] A dedicated and idealistic man, he believed in the station's mission to create a perfect society where humans and Cylons could coexist as equals.[3]
Over three decades of isolation, Fuest became willfully blind to the true nature of his Cylon "companions," who were secretly manipulating him and conducting a long-term study of humanity.[4] He frequently retreated into imagined conversations with his deceased wife, Betti, as a way to cope with the station's failures and his own loneliness.[5]
Upon learning the truth about the station and seeing the abomination of Nedder aboard Invincible, Fuest realizes his life's work was a Cylon-orchestrated lie. In a final act of atonement, he sacrifices his life to create a power surge that temporarily disables the Dreadnaught, allowing Galactica to escape.[6]
