Doctor Villem Fuest was the lead scientist and acting head of Research Station Omega. A dedicated and idealistic man, he believed in the station's mission to create a perfect society where humans and Cylons could coexist as equals.

Over three decades of isolation, Fuest became willfully blind to the true nature of his Cylon "companions," who were secretly manipulating him and conducting a long-term study of humanity. He frequently retreated into imagined conversations with his deceased wife, Betti, as a way to cope with the station's failures and his own loneliness.

Upon learning the truth about the station and seeing the abomination of Nedder aboard Invincible, Fuest realizes his life's work was a Cylon-orchestrated lie. In a final act of atonement, he sacrifices his life to create a power surge that temporarily disables the Dreadnaught, allowing Galactica to escape.
