Citation Needed[edit]

I'm sure we'll get a little more info by the episode, "Maelstrom", however, this name hasn't an aired source and may not be correct or be changed by airing, if the character is seen at all. Therefore I'm marking this for deletion until we confirm the source so we can keep track of this. I've updated the article with the quote from "Flesh and Bone." --Spencerian 07:33, 30 January 2007 (CST)

I pulled the info off another page and I assumed it cited the source, my bad. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 07:35, 30 January 2007 (CST)
We could wait until the episode airs and delete/move it then if turns out to be false. Instead of deleting it now, and possibly having to add it again. When the promo pictures for "Maelstrom" are released, we might get a name --Serenity 07:45, 30 January 2007 (CST)
That was my plan, Serenity. Otherwise I would have deleted it outright as completely unsourced. I may rename it to simply "Mother of Kara Thrace" for now so I can remove the deletion tag as the other data is OK. Yeah, Mercifull, there appears to be a lot of either leaks or fanfic being generated out there in fan forums. One claims to have a snippet from "Maelstrom" and posted it. Caveat lecto. --Spencerian 07:49, 30 January 2007 (CST)
When I said "another page" I meant another page on this very wiki. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 09:14, 30 January 2007 (CST)
Then its a double-whoops for self-referencing. No soup for you! :) The renaming solves both problems for now. --Spencerian 09:21, 30 January 2007 (CST)

Promo image. According to this, the Socrata name is correct. And that's an official SciFi Channel picture. I don't think they've ever been wrong so far. --Serenity 13:27, 1 February 2007 (CST)

Well, there was the whole "Barry Trammel/Barry Garner" mess, several miscues on whether Nora was married to Duck (The Resistance), Starbuck going to a baseship according to the promo text in A Measure of Salvation. And they can and have changed stuff at the very last minute, so I take nothing as canon until it airs. It's probably going to be right, but I would never bet on it. :) --Spencerian 14:57, 1 February 2007 (CST)
These promo pics are always very interesting. The patch on the bed of Socrata (see, I said it) shows "Caprica City Police". Kara is also shown back at her old apartment on Caprica (implying that she goes or is taken there), and her mandala of the Eye of Jupiter appears in both shots. Based on what I heard from the actress at a SF convention, this is going to be very very interesting to see. --Spencerian 15:03, 1 February 2007 (CST)

Its probably nothing and pure coincidence but look at this on the cream in the background.

Looks a bit like the mandala too hehe --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 08:34, 2 February 2007 (CST)
ROFL! Maybe that's where Kara stole from...erm was inspired by when she created her paintings --Serenity 08:36, 2 February 2007 (CST)
And of course theres this... right to the source of pain ^_^ --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 09:00, 2 February 2007 (CST)
Name is confirmed in "Malestrom" when Socrata is viewing a letter. MatthewFenton 04:25, 5 March 2007 (CST)

Not really a spoiler[edit]

Actually the only spoiler might be the photo. Otherwise there is no spoiler information whatsoever. She has been mentioned in "Flesh and Bone" and "The Farm" and that's all the page is saying. --Serenity 14:01, 2 March 2007 (CST)

Any sourced information in an article that has not been aired is a spoiler. The photo qualifies. We can remove the spoiler tag if the photo is removed. --Spencerian 15:01, 2 March 2007 (CST)
I understand that it's a policy, but a photo like this doesn't literally spoil anyone. It doesn't detract from anyone's enjoyment of the episode. But never mind, it's the next episode anyways... --Serenity 16:28, 2 March 2007 (CST)

Her rank[edit]

The letter she receives lists her as Corporal. That's a pretty low rank and seems to indicate that she retired right after the war, possibly being drafted. In the podcast, RDM says that the plans were for her to be a Sergeant Major; meaning career military for 20 years or so. I have the feeling that this also fits better to her whole character. Her congratulating her daughter for being the first officer in the family makes also a bit more sense if she was in the military for a long time. --Serenity 08:14, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Her rank is shown on the medical letter she reads. --Spencerian 08:30, 6 March 2007 (CST)
That's what I said in the first sentence, and I immediately noticed it. I just think that a higher rank, as originally indicated, would fit the character better. --Serenity 08:34, 6 March 2007 (CST)
Sorry, haven't had my coffee (and trying not to). Yeah, I do agree. She's a kind of person that should be more of a sergeant or petty officer. --Spencerian 08:45, 6 March 2007 (CST)
