Cylon Tylium Refinery

The Cylon Refinery was a base located on an asteroid rich in Tylium ore, whose main purpose was to mine and refine tylium for the Cylons. The base was located at a considerable distance from the presumed location of the Cylon Homeworld, and it is unknown whether it was established out of necessity, or merely to eliminate possible resources for any escaping Colonials.

It was discovered by Lieutenants Valerii and Crashdown, while doing reconnaissance to find any Tylium Ore deposits for the fleet. Upon Seeing the base and it's generous compliment of Cylon Raiders, the Colonials jumped back to the fleet. (The Hand of God (RDM))

Despite being extremely well guarded, the lack of fuel supply in the fleet left the Colonials no option but to destroy the Cylon Base. Using recon photographs, Dr.Gaius Baltar was asked to pinpoint a location in the refinery where it could be safely destroyed without rendering the Tylium inert. Baltar, not knowing anything about tylium refineries, consulted his inner Six, though she too claimed to have no idea. She told him to trust God and let him guide his hand. Baltar finally pointed, seemingly at random, at a location in the Base, claiming that hitting that place would do the job.(The Hand of God (RDM))

Destruction of the Base

The Base was attacked by several Viper squadrons, but it's wide range of defensive weapons and fighters allowed it to remain undamaged. Captain Apollo was forced to take on an alternate path, going into a conveyor belt, and coming out directly under the base. With a clean shot to the location pointed out by Baltar, Apollo succeeded in destroying the Cylon base.(The Hand of God (RDM))
