Like the show, the comics or novels based on the Re-imagined Series, and its spinoff, Caprica, use different terminology in order to make the universe visceral to the reader. This array of terminology, used by both the Colonials and Cylons, consists of military jargon, colloquialisms, sayings, and technical terms.

This page does not serve to regurgitate or repeat terminologies used in both series, but terms that only appear in both the comics and novels. Each section is separated by publisher or installment (Dynamite Entertainment, Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock, et al.), in order to make the continuities clear.

Dynamite Entertainment comics[edit]

Cappie: derogatory term for a Caprican, in use circa 51 BCH during the Caprica-Sagittaron Conflict (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War 2).
Delphi-class FTL engine: a new class of FTL engine in use circa 51 BCH; 8.6 Tychon units can FTL 60,000 tons (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War 2).
Playmayte: an erotic publication (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War 1).
Sag: derogatory term for a Sagittaron, in use circa 51 BCH during the Caprica-Sagittaron Conflict (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War 2).
translocation field: the energy field created by an FTL engine after it has been deployed (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War 2).
Tychon: a measure of an engine's FTL output relating to its tonnage (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War 2).
