The Twelve Colonies of Kobol are twelve distinct worlds, located in a remote part of their home galaxy. For about 2,000 years they were home to the human survivors of the Exodus of Kobol. After the settlement, the colonies slowly began to prosper and eventually gave birth to a race of cybernetic lifeforms, known as Cylons.
