The most senior pilot aboard a Battlestar, responsible for all "air" operations.
- The Battlestar Galactica's earliest known CAG Captain Jackson "Ripper" Spencer was killed in the opening minutes of the Cylon Attack on the Twelve Colonies.
- He was replaced by Captain Lee "Apollo" Adama, eldest son of Galactica's commanding officer, William Adama.
- The role of CAG was temporarily given to Captain George "Catman" Birch during Apollo's defection until he returned to the Fleet.
- The CAG of the Battlestar Pegasus is Captain Cole "Stinger" Taylor. Admiral Cain makes it clear that Capt. Adama is to defer to Capt. Taylor. (Pegasus (episode))
- After the transfer of Apollo to Pegasus, it is unclear who is the CAG of Galactica, or whether there is one.
Note
"CAG" is a US Navy term that has gained widespread recognition through films such as Top Gun and television series such as JAG. The term CAG is technically obsolete in the modern US Navy as Air Groups are now know as Air Wings, it is still used though, especially on an informal level.
