I actually first stumbled upon ''Doctor Who'' through its [[w:Doctor Who spoofs#The Simpsons (1995-1996, 1998-1999, 2007)|several references]] made in ''[[w:The Simpsons|The Simpsons]]'' and I was immediately intrigued by the story.
