:It's left as one of the little mysteries of the show. Our armies certainly have depots where ammo is made. Apparently, its good not to make these on the base in case of contamination or explosion, and in the case of the Colonial Fleet, you also want a fallback that is difficult for your enemy to find or infiltrate. The size and its location does indicate that it did more than just act as a big storage pod, but we'll likely never hear of the Anchorage again. Too bad, too, because the Battle of Ragnar Anchorage is still my favorite overall battle as it shows how Galactica is still dangerous for an old battlestar. A part of the anchorage lives on in the Temple of Five; the same facility used for the Anchorage storage became the temple. --Spencerian 14:37, 1 February 2007 (CST) | :It's left as one of the little mysteries of the show. ::Early drafts of the Miniseries had Adama say that Ragnar Anchorage was going to be scrapped two years ago, but they decided not to blow it up because that would be too expensive, so they just abandoned it. Therefore it may once have had a greater role, but since it was in disuse, they may have moved some of the useful (i.e. ammo-producing) equipment elsewhere. --Catrope 15:07, 1 February 2007 (CST) | ::Early drafts of the Miniseries had Adama say that Ragnar Anchorage was going to be scrapped two years ago, but they decided not to blow it up because that would be too expensive, so they just abandoned it. Just as an aside, the hauntingly beautiful music track that plays just as Galactica enters the storm and concludes as hard dock is complete is called "The Storm and the Dead." It and other interesting tracks from the Mini-Series are available from its official soundtrack, which is available from Amazon.com. (I scored mine a local SF convention because I'm a big geek. --Spencerian 17:43, 30 November 2005 (EST)
More than munitions?
Looking at the size of the anchorage compared to the Galactica, I wonder if there wasn't more to this station than just storing bullets. Could it serve as a fall-back fleet HQ? Did it have repair facilities? Medical equipment? It surely looks HUGE and has many sections to it. Bstone 13:55, 1 February 2007 (CST)
- It's left as one of the little mysteries of the show. --Spencerian 14:37, 1 February 2007 (CST)
- Early drafts of the Miniseries had Adama say that Ragnar Anchorage was going to be scrapped two years ago, but they decided not to blow it up because that would be too expensive, so they just abandoned it. Therefore it may once have had a greater role, but since it was in disuse, they may have moved some of the useful (i.e. ammo-producing) equipment elsewhere. --Catrope 15:07, 1 February 2007 (CST)
