Actress Nicki Clyne (born February 11, 1983 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian actor.

The 5'6" actress graduated in June 2000 from Hugh Boyd Secondary School in Richmond, B.C.. While Clyne said she could not sing, she played the title character on stage in a high school production of Annie. She has taken courses at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, which are both in metropolitan Vancouver.

Film and TV

One of her favorite directors is Tim Burton. She owns a motorcycle. According to IMDb, one of her first roles was in The Hostage Negotiator in 2001. Clyne also acted along with Battlestar Galactica alumnus Paul Campbell in the independent Canadian film Ill-Fated. Clyne was nominated for Best Actress for that film in the Leo Awards.

Some of her other work includes guest appearances on Smallville, The L Word, Dark Angel, The Twilight Zone, and other Canadian productions. Clyne's big break is arguably her role as Specialist Cally Tyrol in the series pilot led to her recurring recurring role on the regular series.

Clyne has a featured role in the VH1 film Totally Awesome, a spoof of 80s movies. The film premiered on the network November 4, 2006 and released on DVD three days later. She also has a minor role in the July 2006 film John Tucker Must Die.

On Battlestar Galactica

Clyne described her character, Cally, as someone viewers could easily relate to. "She’s a very strong, tough and smart woman who knows exactly what she’s doing," she stated. "She’s an open and warm character, but she also stands her ground. She doesn’t let people push her around."

She also commented on Cally's defining relationship with Galen Tyrol: "Cally has a huge crush on Chief Tyrol, and she’s very loyal to him. She’s also a little bit in awe of him, because he’s her boss and he’s a very commanding presence."

Regarding the attempted rape scene in "Bastille Day", Clyne found it to be a "very difficult scene to do," but felt it was "important to show that Cally is a survivor."

She was surprised by the character's popularity with viewers. "I feel very lucky to be a very small part of this show, and I never expected there to be so much interest in my work," she said. "I’ve been surprised by what people have noticed and have picked up on, and I never thought Cally would stand out so much. That’s been really wonderful.”
