I concised this article to remove the self-argumentative counterpoints and to focus on the most probable use of the name. The article is shortened, but is now more relevant. There is really no further data that can be used, I feel, and other speculation does not fit to the few facts that can be derived from the single season of the series. If Galactica 1980 information is added, it strongly supports the single-galaxy-but-differing-name probability since the Exodus to Earth took 30 years as noted there. Given that the speeds and method of propulsion in either series was never defined, it's more likely (despite the still-fantastic nature of it) to conclude that travel across a portion of a large galaxy of over 100,000 light-years in size is more probable in 30 years than intra-galactic travel over several million (or more) light-years. --Spencerian 09:17, 10 April 2007 (CDT)

:You clearly improved the article but your result cannot stand either. It is noway clear or even probable that the two galaxies are identical. Adama clearly contradicts this and even Starbuck's words imply that he by then is in a different galaxy (a foreigner visting for instance a British town would not introduce himself as being from Britain if where, he would be more specific. However, he could well introduce himself as "from Britain" if he were visiting an American town).
:Sure, the non-identity is unlikely given the information given about speed, transport and distances. However, this simply appears to be a contradiction created by the producer's failure to think this through.
:Unless of course, Adama and Starbuck mean something different when they talk of galaxies or the universe in the series does not conform to the universe as we know it. Str1977 15:05, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey! :-) I've just come across some piece of fan speculation and I wanted to give it to the experts, so you can decided if it's useful information for the Cyrannus (TOS) article: Cyrannus System Map?

The entire website around the map has lots of info about the Cyrannus System but I have a hard time deciding what's canon and what's made up for a Role Play Game. Greetings, --CC-Mel 06:01, 14 May 2007 (CDT)

:That's a very weird mix between Star Trek and BSG. Best to ignore that. Any speculation about the nature of the Coloniaö home system is just that: speculation. And thus problematic here. --Serenity 06:11, 14 May 2007 (CDT)

Article update

You clearly improved the article but your result cannot stand either.
Sure, the non-identity is unlikely given the information given about speed, transport and distances. However, this simply appears to be a contradiction created by the producer's failure to think this through.
Unless of course, Adama and Starbuck mean something different when they talk of galaxies or the universe in the series does not conform to the universe as we know it. Str1977 15:05, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Possible Map?

Indeed. And it assumes the identity of the two galaxies. Str1977 15:06, 23 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
