heh. I think this page needs a serious "re-do" anyway. :-) --Shane (T - C - E) 21:29, 22 August 2006 (CDT)
i definitely agree. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 21:49, 22 August 2006 (CDT)

I'm thinking that this page should mirror our welcome page at BWM. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 10:37, 23 August 2006 (CDT)

Wiki-history?

I wonder if this S4 break would be a good time to document the history of the wiki. You know, from the earliest days when Joe started it, the great sysop expansion, the various incarnations of the main page design, the portals and other navigation, the incorporation of the blog, the various buyout overtures, our evolving hardware platform, etc. While we might not be a notable site as far as some are concerned, I'd say it'd be relevant here. I'm not sure if a simple timeline (with some images sprinkled in) would be superior to a narrative or not. Anybody interested? --Steelviper 18:55, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm sure that we can probably start off with a timeline, then work that into a narrative. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 19:53, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I would definitely support the creation of such a page. I got involved pretty late (in the break between seasons 2 and 3), so it'd be fun to read about what happened before I got here. I've read some old RfAs, of course, but those hardly deserve the Concision Fairy Award. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 20:08, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pretentious latin slogans

Since we're on a roll and working on an about us page for our own self-edification, then I suggest we be pretentious and sprinkle some latin phrases here and there, for humor's sake.

For chiefs: Collator primoris proceres secundus. (Contributors first, chiefs second.)

Thoughts? -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 20:27, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Let's not forget "Materiam superabat opus", the concision fairy phrase. It means that the workmanship (or the final work) exceeds the materials (the parts that make of the final work). I think it might be Ovid. The trouble with the machine translation is when they churn out word for word translations that make no sense strung together in a sentence. Fortunately there are a ton of lists of Latin phrases that will be grammatically correct and make sense. (For all those who actually read Latin...) --Steelviper 21:23, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
