There is an open inquiry on this done by Sauron18 and is on our Official Communiques page, which Bradley Thompson (one of the producers for the new series) answers questions on, when his schedule permits. Thus far, the question hasn't been answered. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 00:52, 22 August 2007 (CDT)

Well, I don't think the Think Tank is really appropriate for this. But this would probably have been answered in the Caprica series. There was an interview with SciFi suit Mark Stern where he partially answered it: "Cybernetic, something, organism". But he couldn't remember it completely. --Serenity 01:04, 22 August 2007 (CDT)

  • I thought it might relate to "Cyclops", stemming from the prominent one eye of the Original series Cylons. Changing the word a bit makes it sound more robotic and scifi-esque. This is just my guess though, no evidence. Chances are they just made up a name in 1978 that sounded space-age and menacing and any explanation they offer now is a backronym.
