Columbia is one of the original twelve[1] battlestars created during the Cylon War. During Operation Raptor Talon, Columbia is destroyed with all hands by the Cylons (Razor Flashback, Episode 3).

The second Columbia is of a newer type, featuring integrated command and control systems and Dr. Gaius Baltar's Command Navigation Program (CNP). It is reported as lost, along with Solaria and Triton, during the initial moments of the Second Cylon War.
Adama once served as executive officer on Columbia (Hero). Galen Tyrol also served on this ship at some point in his long career as an NCO ("Resistance")
Notes[edit]
- The name Columbia (derived from the Latin columba, meaning "dove" or "pigeon") is a derivation of the 15th Century Genoan explorer Christopher Columbus. While at first glance such an Earth-based name seems an unlikely choice for an "alien" culture, it might be a hint towards a different version of the Twelve Colonies' ancient history.
- In fan fiction, Columbia is considered the class name of the Original Series battlestars. This is not substantiated by any official sources. Battlestar Wiki does not support this or any other fan fiction.
